Potential Vorticity Homogenization and Stationary Waves
Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 1995Abstract The general character of stationary Rossby waves in a state with homogenized tropospheric PY as opposed to more conventionally assumed PV distributions is discussed. It is shown that the expected changes in wave pattern are inconsequential.

A Miniaturized Homogenous Assay of Mitochondrial Membrane Potential
ASSAY and Drug Development Technologies, 2011Mitochondrial dysfunction is increasingly associated with disease states. These organelles, responsible for adenosine triphosphate production, have been targeted for improved function in such diseases as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, type 2 diabetes, and sarcopenia.

Scattering at Zero Energy for Attractive Homogeneous Potentials
Annales Henri Poincaré, 2009We compute up to a compact term the zero-energy scattering matrix for a class of potentials asymptotically behaving as −γ|x|−μ with 0 0. It turns out to be the propagator for the wave equation on the sphere at time \(\frac{\mu\pi}{2-\mu}\).

Precipitation potentials in a homogeneous aerosol
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1967Abstract Aerosol particles immersed in an ionized environment, accumulate through ionic diffusion free electrical charges that control a number of fundamental aerosol characteristics. The distribution of free charges among the aerosol particles has been worked out.

Bi-homogeneity and integrability of rational potentials
Journal of Differential Equations, 2020The authors discuss the integrability of Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom given by a Hamiltonian function of the form \[ H(q,p) = \frac{1}{2} (p_1^2 + p_2^2) + V(q) \; , \] where \(q=(q_1, q_2)\), \(p=(p_1, p_2)\) and \(V(q)\) is a rational potential.

The Newtonian potential of homogeneous polyhedra
Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik ZAMP, 1979The Newtonian potential —U of an arbitrary homogeneous polyhedronD in three-dimensional space is represented in closed form.U, as a function of Cartesian coordinates, is the sum of 8k terms involving the elementary Artanh and arctan functions, wherek is the number of edges ofD.

Gravity Potential Series Expansion for Homogeneous Polyhedra
70th EAGE Conference and Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2008, 2008Series expansion methods in gravity anomaly calculations provide a convenient representation of the local anomaly that do not require the complexity of a full anomaly computation at every evaluation point within a region of interest around the expansion point. We give one approach to obtaining such an expansion, appropriate when the causative body is a

Homogenization of potential vorticity in planetary gyres
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1982The mean circulation of planetary fluids tends to develop uniform potential vorticity q in regions where closed time-mean streamlines or closed isolines of mean potential vorticity exist. This state is established in statistically steady flows by geostrophic turbulence or by wave-induced potential-vorticity flux.
