Periodic Homogenization for Hypoelliptic Diffusions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We study the long time behavior of an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process under the influence of a periodic drift. We prove that, under the standard diffusive rescaling, the law of the particle position converges weakly to the law of a Brownian motion whose ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Technological Advancements of Insoluble Dietary Fiber from Food By-Product Processing: A Review

open access: yesFoods
Insoluble dietary fibers (IDFs) represent one of the most promising candidates for novel food formulations, since they can be produced from a wide range of food by-products and wastes, have health benefits, and often enhance the rheology and stability of

Automated Symbolic Upscaling: 1. Model Generation for Extended Applicability Regimes

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2023
In porous media theory, upscaling techniques are fundamental to deriving rigorous Darcy‐scale models for flow and reactive transport in subsurface systems.

Scale transition and enforcement of RVE boundary conditions in second-order computational homogenization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Formulation of the scale transition equations coupling the microscopic and macroscopic variables in the second-order computational homogenization of heterogeneous materials and the enforcement of generalized boundary conditions for the representative ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Carbon Nanotubes in Cement—A New Approach for Building Composites and Its Influence on Environmental Effect of Material

open access: yesMolecules
An addition of carbon nanostructures to cement paste is problematic due to the difficulties in obtaining homogenous mixtures. The paper reports on a more effective way of mixing carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) in cement pastes ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Finite Element Approximation of Elliptic Homogenization Problems in Nondivergence-Form

open access: yes, 2019
We use uniform $W^{2,p}$ estimates to obtain corrector results for periodic homogenization problems of the form $A(x/\varepsilon):D^2 u_{\varepsilon} = f$ subject to a homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).
