Homogenization modelling of antibiotic diffusion and adsorption in viral liquid crystals

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2023
Systems of rod-shaped viruses have long been important to the science of living liquid crystals, as their monodispersity and uniform charge make them convenient model systems. Recently, it was shown that, upon the addition of polymers, suspensions of rod-

Multi‐omic profiling of squamous cell lung cancer identifies metabolites and related genes associated with squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using multi‐omic characterization, we aimed to identify key regulators specific to squamous cell lung carcinoma (SqCC). SqCC‐specific differentially expressed genes were integrated with metabolics data. High expression of the creatine transporter SLC6A8, along with elevated creatine levels, appeared to be a distinct metabolic feature of SqCC.

Bioassessment of Macroinvertebrate Communities Influenced by Gradients of Human Activities

open access: yesInsects
This study explores the impact of anthropogenic land use changes on the macroinvertebrate community structure in the streams of the Cangshan Mountains. Through field collections of macroinvertebrates, measurement of water environments, and delineation of

Functional consequences of the long-term decline of reef-building corals in the Caribbean: evidence of across-reef functional convergence [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2019
Functional integrity on coral reefs is strongly dependent upon coral cover and coral carbonate production rate being sufficient to maintain three-dimensional reef structures.

Development of flax/basalt/PA11 bio-composites: optimal formulation and modelling of the quasi-static behaviour

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2023
Environmental impact is becoming increasingly important in the automotive industry, with car manufacturers looking to reduce CO2 emissions through cleaner engines and structural weight reduction.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Homogenization in elastodynamics with force term depending on time

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2000
We extend the study on the homogenization problem for an elastic material containing a distributed array of gas bubbles to the case when the body force depends on time.

Changes in beta diversity and species functional traits differ between saplings and mature trees in an old‐growth forest

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Invasion by generalist tree species can cause biotic homogenization, and such community impoverishment is likely more important in rare forest types. We quantified changes in tree diversity within Carolinian (range in Central Hardwood Forest), central ...

Discrete Geometric Structures in Homogenization and Inverse Homogenization with application to EIT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We introduce a new geometric approach for the homogenization and inverse homogenization of the divergence form elliptic operator with rough conductivity coefficients $\sigma(x)$ in dimension two.
