Estimation Of Thermal Conductivity Of Fine Concrete With Recycled Pet Flakes By Two-Scale Homogenization Method

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering, 2022
The present work aims to estimate the macroscopic thermal conductivity of fine concretes with recycled PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) flakes (Concrete with Waste Recycled Plastic - CWRP).

Stochastic homogenization of $\Lambda$-convex gradient flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper we present a stochastic homogenization result for a class of Hilbert space evolutionary gradient systems driven by a quadratic dissipation potential and a $\Lambda$-convex energy functional featuring random and rapidly oscillating ...

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Polyharmonic homogenization, rough polyharmonic splines and sparse super-localization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We introduce a new variational method for the numerical homogenization of divergence form elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic equations with arbitrary rough ($L^\infty$) coefficients.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Limitation of estimation method of surface texture parameters by inverse analysis of hammering test data with disturbance

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2019
The surface texture formed by the micro asperities on the surface of the solid members induces the stiffness reduction of the structure constructed by screws and bolts.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Stochastic unfolding and homogenization of spring network models

open access: yes, 2018
The aim of our work is to provide a simple homogenization and discrete-to-continuum procedure for energy driven problems involving stochastic rapidly-oscillating coefficients.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
