Planar motion estimation from 1D homographies

2012 12th International Conference on Control Automation Robotics & Vision (ICARCV), 2012
This paper addresses the estimation of planar camera motion using 1D homographies. As contributions, we show analytically that, contrary to what occurs with the 2D homography, there is a family of infinite solutions to the 1D homography decomposition, and therefore infinite possible motion reconstructions.

Bundle adjustment and Kalman filtering for homography estimation

2013 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (ROBIO), 2013
This document compares global bundle adjustment via the ubiquitous Levenberg-Marquardt to a Kalman filter to estimate parameters of a homographic transformation between two or more images starting from bad initial conditions. We show that the filtering technique outperforms sparse bundle adjustment in terms of projection error and computational costs ...

Trajectory Estimation Based on Globally Consistent Homography

2003
We propose a method for estimating trajectories of objects moving on a world plane. Motivation of this work is to estimate the field trajectories of players and the ball from uncalibrated monocular soccer image sequences. In order to find mappings between images and the plane, four feature points, no three of them are collinear, should exist in each ...

Speeding-up homography estimation in mobile devices

Journal of Real-Time Image Processing, 2013
A critical problem faced by computer vision on mobile devices is reducing the computational cost of algorithms and avoiding visual stalls. In this paper, we introduce a procedure for reducing the number of samples required for fitting a homography to a set of noisy correspondences using a random sampling method. This is achieved by means of a geometric

Combining Line and Point Correspondences for Homography Estimation

2008
This paper presents a method to extend the normalized direct linear transform (DLT) algorithm for homography estimation. Previously, only point correspondences were used. Now, line correspondences can be included as well. This extension is point-centric in that the lines are normalized to fit with the normalization used for points.

Homography Based State Estimation for Aerial Robots

2008
Low-cost Unmanned Aerial Vehicles have large potential for applications in the civil sector. Cheap inertial sensors alone can not provide the degree of accuracy required for control and navigation of the UAVs. Additional sensors, and sensor fusion techniques are needed to reduce the state estimation error.
