Global divergence of microbial genome sequences mediated by propagating fronts
We model the competition between recombination and point mutation in microbial genomes, and present evidence for two distinct phases, one uniform, the other genetically diverse.

VH replacement in rearranged immunoglobulin genes [PDF]
Examples suggesting that all or part of the VH segment of a rearranged VHDJH may be replaced by all or part of another VH have been appearing since the 1980s ...

Sequential indolo‐fusion π‐extension as a rational design strategy to further narrow the emission bandwidth of multi‐resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence is introduced. By fusing one or two additional indole moieties to the periphery of Cz‐B, gradual spectra narrowing and accelerated triplet–singlet exciton spin conversion are ...

Homologous recombination-deficient tumors are hyper-dependent on POLQ-mediated repair
Large-scale genomic studies have shown that half of epithelial ovarian cancers (EOCs) have alterations in genes regulating homologous recombination (HR) repair.

A map of the diversity of RNA3 recombinants appearing in plants infected with cucumber mosaic virus and tomato aspermy virus [PDF]
In order to better understand the role of recombination in creating the diversity of viral genomes that is acted on by selection, we have studied in detail the population of recombinant RNA3 molecules occurring in tobacco plants coinfected with wild-type

Self‐Adjusting Engineered Probiotic for Targeted Tumor Colonization and Local Therapeutics Delivery
Zou et al. developed an engineered strain of Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 with precise targeting abilities for colonization and on‐demand payload release. The engineered probiotic survives and embolizes tumors only in the presence of more than 5 mM L‐lactate. Furthermore, the introduction of an α‐hemolysin circuit enhances its anti‐tumor effect.

Crossover recombination during meiosis is accompanied by a dramatic chromosome reorganization. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the onset of meiotic recombination by the Spo11 transesterase leads to stable pairwise associations between previously ...

Homologous Recombination Deficiency and Platinum-Based Therapy Outcomes in Advanced Breast Cancer
Purpose: Recent studies have identified mutation signatures of homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) in over 20% of breast cancers, as well as pancreatic, ovarian, and gastric cancers.

Genetic Requirements for Intra-Chromosomal Deletions [PDF]
Chromosomal deletions are one of the most dangerous types of DNA damage and often arise as a result of inappropriately repaired DNA double strand breaks (DSB).

Molecular evolution of human adenoviruses [PDF]
The recent emergence of highly virulent human adenoviruses (HAdVs) with new tissue tropisms underscores the need to determine their ontogeny. Here we report complete high quality genome sequences and analyses for all the previously unsequenced HAdV ...
