Comment on “An Efficient Homomorphic MAC with Small Key Size for Authentication in Network Coding”
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 2015Quite recently, Cheng and Jiang [1] designed an efficient homomorphic message authentication code (MAC) scheme for authentication in network coding, and claimed that the newly proposed scheme can achieve much higher security level with a formal security proof.

An Efficient Null Space-Based Homomorphic MAC Scheme Against Tag Pollution Attacks in RLNC [PDF]
This letter proposes an efficient null space-based homomorphic message authentication code scheme providing resistance against tag pollution attacks in random linear network coding, where these attacks constitute a severe security threat. In contrast to data pollution attacks, where an adversary injects into the network corrupted packets, in tag ...

Homomorphic MACs: MAC-Based Integrity for Network Coding
2009Network coding has been shown to improve the capacity and robustness in networks. However, since intermediate nodes modify packets en-route, integrity of data cannot be checked using traditional MACs and checksums. In addition, network coded systems are vulnerable to pollution attacks where a single malicious node can flood the network with bad packets

A Generic Construction of Homomorphic MAC for Multi-File Transmission in Network Coding
Journal of Communications, 2015—Homomorphic message authentication codes (MAC) have been proposed to thwart pollution attacks in network coding. The existing schemes mainly are based on the vector inner product or trace function over finite fields. Recently, Wang and Hu presented a generic construction of homomorphic MAC scheme based on linear mapping over finite fields which is an

Homomorphic MAC-based scheme against pollution attacks in network coding
Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences, 2013Network coding can improve network throughput in large, but it is vulnerable to the data pollution attacks. In this paper, we propose an efficient homomorphic message authentication code (MAC) scheme with discrete logarithm to detect and locate the malicious nodes. We also prove the security property of the scheme theoretically.

Dynamic Verifiable Encrypted Keyword Search Using Bitmap Index and Homomorphic MAC
2017 IEEE 4th International Conference on Cyber Security and Cloud Computing (CSCloud), 2017Searchable Symmetric Encryption (SSE) is a technique to securely outsource the data, which is encrypted using symmetric key primitives, while maintaining search functionality. While several solutions have been proposed to realize SSE over various data structures, the efficient solution using inverted index is due to Curtmola et.al.

Implementation of A Homomorphic MAC Scheme in a Transparent Hardware Appliance for Network Coding
2019 14th International Conference on Computer Engineering and Systems (ICCES), 2019Network coding (NC) can effectively improve data delivery in a noisy network. It allows the nodes to combine multiple packets and deliver them out. The destination can then recover it. However, pollution attacks are the most common threat to NC. As malicious nodes can inject false Ethernet packets into the network to ban the receiver from decoding the ...
