Rigidity in Equivariant Stable Homotopy Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
For any finite group G, we show that the 2-local G-equivariant stable homotopy category, indexed on a complete G-universe, has a unique equivariant model in the sense of Quillen model categories.

Topological Homotopy Groups

open access: yesBulletin of the Belgian Mathematical Society - Simon Stevin, 2008
D. K. Biss (Topology and its Applications 124 (2002) 355-371) introduced the topological fundamental group and presented some interesting basic properties of the notion. In this article we intend to extend the above notion to homotopy groups and try to prove some similar basic properties of the topological homotopy groups.

Solving Multi-Group Reflected Spherical Reactor System of Equations Using the Homotopy Perturbation Method

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
The solution of the complex neutron diffusion equations system of equations in a spherical nuclear reactor is presented using the homotopy perturbation method (HPM); the HPM is a remarkable approximation method that successfully solves different systems ...

Inertia Groups and Smooth Structures on Quaternionic Projective Spaces

open access: yes, 2017
For a quarternionic projective space, the homotopy inertia group and the concordance inertia group are isomorphic, but the inertia group might be different.

Estimates by gap potentials of free homotopy decompositions of critical Sobolev maps

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2019
A free homotopy decomposition of any continuous map from a compact Riemannian manifold π“œ to a compact Riemannian manifold 𝓝 into a finite number maps belonging to a finite set is constructed, in such a way that the number of maps in this free homotopy ...

Constructing homologically trivial actions on products of spheres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We prove that if a finite group $G$ has a representation with fixity $f$, then it acts freely and homologically trivially on a finite CW-complex homotopy equivalent to a product of $f+1$ spheres.

Digital Hopf Spaces and Their Duals

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
In this article, we study the fundamental notions of digital Hopf and co-Hopf spaces based on pointed digital images. We show that a digital Hopf space, a digital associative Hopf space, a digital Hopf group, and a digital commutative Hopf space are ...

Spin(7) and generalized SO(8) instantons in eight dimensions

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2022
We present a simple compact formula for a topologically nontrivial map S7β†’Spin(7) associated with the fiber bundle Spin(7)β†’G2S7. The homotopy group Ο€7[Spin(7)]=Z brings about the topologically nontrivial 8-dimensional gauge field configurations that ...

Spectra of units for periodic ring spectra and group completion of graded E-infinity spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We construct a new spectrum of units for a commutative symmetric ring spectrum that detects the difference between a periodic ring spectrum and its connective cover. It is augmented over the sphere spectrum.

Topological Path Planning in GPS Trajectory Data

open access: yesSensors, 2016
This paper proposes a novel solution to the problem of computing a set of topologically inequivalent paths between two points in a space given a set of samples drawn from that space. Specifically, these paths are homotopy inequivalent where homotopy is a
