The honeydew composition and production of four aphid species feeding on Tanacetum vulgare, and mutualistic relationships with the ant Lasius niger were studied. In honeydew of Metopeurum fuscoviride and Brachycaudus cardui, xylose, glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose, melezitose, and raffinose were detected.

An NMR-based approach for rapid differentiation of oak honeydew honey from all other honey types (floral and other honeydew honeys) was proposed. It is based on the identification of the signals of the protons and the carbon of the methylene group of quercitol in the (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra of honey.

Identification of raffinose in honeydew
Experientia, 1984The presence of small amounts of raffinose in the honeydew of 6 aphid species was demonstrated by means of TLC and GLC after invertase hydrolysis. The method allows the detection of this sugar even in the presence of a high percentage of melezitose.

Bemisiose: an unusual trisaccharide in Bemisia honeydew
Carbohydrate Research, 1994A gradient high performance anion-exchange chromatography analysis of Bemisia honeydew was carried out in order to analyze the sugar mixture more completely. From the results of the experiments by using chemical-ionization and electron-ionization gas chromatography, enzyme digestion, and H and C NMR that showed this saccharide to be a trisaccharide ...

Sugars from Sphacelia sorghi honeydew
Carbohydrate Research, 1973Abstract Several unusual oligosaccharides have been isolated from the honeydew of Sphacelia sorghi McRae. These include 1-O-β- D -fructofuranosyl- D -mannitol, 5-O-β- D -fructofuranosyl- D -arabinitol, 1,6-di-O-β- D -fructofuranosyl- D -mannitol, 1,5-di-O-β- D -fructofuranosyl- D -arabinitol, and 1-O-β- D -fructofuranosyl-6-O-[β- D -fructofuranosyl ...

Honeydew is excreted (waste) product of Hemipterans Insect related with Sternorrhyncha and Auchenorrhyncha species. Honeydew is liquid syrup substance. Insect diet changes within insect gut facilities, and produce honeydew which contains a variety of saccharides and oligosaccharides also in some proteins in some species.

Bioactive properties of blossom and honeydew honeys
2019In this study, it was aimed to determine the bioactive properties of honeydew and blossom honeys produced in Turkey. Botanical origins of honey samples (locust, sunflower, citrus, lavender, coriander, euphorbia, rhododendron, chestnut, carob, thyme, rape, linden, pumpkin, heather, nigella, milk thistle, pine and oak honeys) collected from different ...

Quantitative Field Collection of Honeydew
Annals of the Entomological Society of America, 1971The collection of metabolic products of insects can be the most difficult part of quantitative field studies. Recently we encountered the problem of how to quantitatively collect honeydew from individual tuliptree scales, Toumeyella liriodendri (Gmelin) (Homoptera: Coccidae), infesting field-grown yellow-poplars, Liriodendron tidipifera L.

Left Atrium the Size of a Honeydew Melon
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2014Fig 3. Aexpectoration. Medical history revealed that the patient had a mechanical mitral valve replacement in the early 1990s in Russia. The electrocardiogram showed atrial fibrillation. Initial chest roentgenograph showed bilateral pneumonic infiltrates and a severe cardiomegaly with the implanted mechanical mitral valve (Fig 1).
