Defect‐Templated Phase Engineering in Atomically Thin Metals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene defects are transformed from passive imperfections into programmable templates for phase‐selective growth of atomically thin silver. Plasma‐generated boundary defects favor Ag(1), whereas sp3‐rich zero‐layer graphene promotes Ag(2). This defect‐directed intercalation links local graphene chemistry to crystalline phase, electronic structure ...

Analysis of Earthquake Vulnerability of The Demak Coastal Area based on the HVSR (Horizontal To Vertical Spectral Ratio) Method

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Applied Physics
Most of the Demak Coastal area, especially on the north coast, has a subsurface structure which is quite thick sediment. The impact of an earthquake will cause damage to subsurface structures and buildings above it, so a method is needed that can ...

Ion Concentration and Voltage Imaging With Fluorescent Nanodiamonds

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate reversible switching between the fluorescent NV0 and the dark NV+ state, in sub‐30 nm FNDs via surface oxidation and hydrogenation, respectively. In an electrochemical cell, we show that the fluorescence from hydrogenated particles enables all‐optical imaging of voltages and ion concentrations at the micrometer scale.

Moiré Phase Mapping in Twisted Bilayer Liquid Crystals with Reconfigurable Light Polarization States

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted bilayer liquid crystals are developed by vertical stacking assembly of two liquid crystals having designer domains and optical properties. These moiré‐symmetry, twisted liquid crystals demonstrate reconfigurable polarization states, moiré patterns and phases controlled by twist angles, providing a route to design active optical devices for ...

Data of subsurface velocity structures beneath the Japan Islands retrieved from horizontal-to-vertical ratios of earthquake with diffuse field concept

open access: yesData in Brief
The present data are subsurface velocity structures retrieved by applying the theory of diffuse field concept to the strong motion data of earthquakes observed at 1744 sites of K-NET and KiK-net (operated by the National Institute of Earth Science and ...

Descriptors to Dynamics: A Materials and Device Perspective on in‐Materio Physical Reservoir Computing for Neuromorphic Edge Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic material dynamics are harnessed as computational resources for neuromorphic in‐materio physical reservoir computing. Defects, ionic motion, interfaces, percolation, geometry, and biasing shape transient states that provide fading memory, nonlinearity, and high‐dimensional projection for simple readout. A descriptor‐to‐dynamics framework links

Computation‐Less, Bias‐Free, and Ultra‐Broadband Photodetector for On‐Chip Edge Extraction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A computation‐less, bias‐free, and ultra‐broadband photodetector directly converts local optical‐intensity gradients into signed photocurrents through a position‐dependent bi‐directional photoresponse. This intrinsic physical sensing mechanism enables single‐pixel edge extraction from the near‐infrared to the long‐wave infrared at room temperature ...

Characterization and spatiotemporal variations of ambient seismic noise in eastern Bangladesh

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
This study analyses the ambient noise field recorded by the seismic network, TREMBLE, in Bangladesh, operational since late 2016. Horizontal-vertical spectral ratios confirm the placement of stations on sediment, many situated on thick sedimentary ...
