Vertical and Horizontal Redistribution

open access: yes, 2018
European countries have the world's most redistributive tax and transfer systems. Although they have been well equipped to deal with vertical inequality -- that is, fostering redistribution from the rich to the poor -- less is known about their performance in dealing with horizontal ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Vault changes in eyes with a vertically implanted implantable collamer lens

open access: yesScientific Reports
Sulcus-to-sulcus vertical diameter is longer than the horizontal. However, the effect of vertical positioning of the implantable collamer lens (ICL) on the vault compared to preoperative prediction is unclear.

The Law of Attraction: Bilateral Search and Horizontal Heterogeneity [PDF]

open access: yes
We study a matching model with heterogeneous agents, nontransferable utility and search frictions. Agents differ along a horizontal dimension (e.g. taste) and a vertical dimension (e.g. income). Agents’ preferences coincide only in the vertical dimension.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions

EQUIVALENT ELASTIC MODULUS OF THE HONEYCOMB CORE BASED ON FEM MODEL

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2015
The honeycomb core model was built by finite element method( FEM). And based on Hooke ’s law,the equivalent elastic modulus of honeycomb core influenced by the change of cell number was studied. The result indicates that the horizontal equivalent elastic
