Diffusion in hot subdwarf progenitors from the common envelope channel

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2017
Diffusion of elements in the atmosphere of a star can drastically affect its surface composition, sometimes leading to unusual mixtures. These chemically peculiar stars can be identified fromthe presence of unusual lines in their spectra.

The Impact of Rotation on the Evolution of Low-Mass Stars

open access: yes, 2007
High precision photometry and spectroscopy of low-mass stars reveal a variety of properties standard stellar evolution cannot predict. Rotation, an essential ingredient of stellar evolution, is a step towards resolving the discrepancy between model ...

Designing an Anionic Layer in Low‐Concentration Electrolytes to Promote In‐Plane Ion Diffusion for Dendrite‐Free Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An optimization model for zinc anodes centered on anion traction in a low‐concentration electrolyte system is proposed. The fluoride‐ion enriched interfacial layer on the zinc anode surface enhances the concentration of Zn2+ in a lateral direction through electrostatic forces, thereby facilitating horizontal zinc plating.

Design and first-round commissioning result of the SASE beamline at the Shanghai Soft X-ray FEL facility

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation
The Shanghai Soft X-ray Free-Electron Laser (SXFEL) is the first X-ray free-electron laser facility in China. The SASE beamline, which consists of a pink-beam branch and a mono-beam branch, is one of the two beamlines in the Phase-I construction.

Standalone Integrated Magnonic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A standalone (not requiring external bias magnetic field) and tunable magnonic device is reported with all‐electric input and output, fully integrated on silicon (total footprint of 100 × 150 µm) and 3–8 GHz frequency band. This is achieved by monolithic integration of a CoFeB conduit with RF antennas and an assembly of NiFe and SmCo micromagnets ...

Analysis on economic benefits of coalbed methane drilling technologies

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2009
The coalbed methane (CBM) development activities in China are concentrated in the regions with low-permeability coal reservoirs. There are two kinds of drilling technologies: one is the conventional vertical well technology, the other is multi-branch ...

Identification of Blue Horizontal-branch Stars Using Synthetic SkyMapper Colors from Gaia XP Spectra

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Blue horizontal-branch (BHB) stars are ideal tracers for mapping the structure of the Galactic stellar halo. Traditionally, BHB sample stars are built from large-scale spectroscopic surveys utilizing their spectral features; however, the resulting sample
