On Flame Propagation Through a Horizontal Channel

Combustion Science and Technology, 1996
Abstract The premised flame moving through a horizontal channel and subject to buoyancy effects is analyzed. In the limit of strong thermal expansion of the burned gas, assuming the channel to be wide enough, the problem transpires to be closely related to the hydrodynamic one for a long bubble spreading through a horizontal channel.

Electroosmotic Flow of MHD Power Law Al2O3-PVC Nanouid in a Horizontal Channel: Couette-Poiseuille Flow Model

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2018
The current manuscript is reported about the electro-osmotic Couette-Poiseuille flow of power law Al2O3-PVC nanofluid through a channel, in which upper wall is moving with constant velocity.

Transhemispheric Horizontal Channels for Transmission of Epileptic Information

Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, 1991
1) To gain insight into the complex pathophysiology of epilepsy in the human brain, the synthesis of information derived from various animal models representing appropriate components of human epileptic seizure is required. For epileptic seizure propagation, the availability of anatomical pathways and their physiological connectivity according to the ...

Film condensation in horizontal microchannels: Effect of channel shape

International Journal of Thermal Sciences, 2005
The paper gives a progress report on a theoretical study of film condensation in microchannels. The model takes account of surface tension, vapor shear stress and gravity. The effect of channel shape is investigated for condensation of R134a in channels with cross sections: square, triangle, inverted triangle, rectangle with longer side vertical and ...

Perturbation based analytical solutions of non‐Newtonian differential equation with heat and mass transportation between horizontal permeable channel

Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, 2021
A mathematical model is constructed in this investigation to examine the effects of heat and mass transfer in tangent‐hyperbolic fluid bounded within horizontal channel. The lower‐wall of channel is taken as heated.

Free convection heat transfer in horizontal channels and over a horizontal surface

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1965
Free convective heat transfer of a fluid in horizontal channels and above a horizontal surface is theoretically analyzed. The interaction of the fluid with the channel walls may be divided into two parts: formation of vortex flow cells, and heat transfer in the induced flow over the walls.

Anisotropy in the chromatic channel: A horizontal-vertical effect

Spatial Vision, 1988
We compared the chromatic contrast thresholds of drifting (2Hz) red-green sine-wave gratings of horizontal, vertical, and two oblique orientations at three spatial frequencies (2, 4, 8 cpd). Luminance contrast thresholds for yellow-black gratings were also obtained. The classic oblique effect was found for high spatial frequency luminance and chromatic

Horizontal mixing of quasi-uniform straight compound channel flows

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2010
The generation and evolution of large-scale vortices with vertical axis (macro-vortices) in a straight compound channel under quasi-uniform flow conditions is investigated. We discuss possible similarities and clear differences with free shear layer flows induced by the meeting of shallow streams of different speeds. An experimental investigation based
