Field Test of Horizontal Drilling with Dual Channel Drill Pipe

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2017
In the horizontal drilling, the narrow drilling fluid density window and the dynamic equivalent circulation density limit the extension of horizontal openhole section, and several liner joints or casing joints are often required to reach the target depth.

Simulation of steady-state cuttings transport through a horizontal annulus channel

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
The current study is devoted to simulating cuttings transport by drilling fluid through a horizontal section of borehole with an annular cross section. Drill pipe rotates in fixed eccentric position. Steady-state flow is considered.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

A Novel Three-Input Field Effect Transistor with Parallel Switching Function Using T-Shaped Channel

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2022
In this article, a novel three-input field effect transistor with parallel switching function (PSF-TiFET) is proposed. The channels of the new device consist of a vertical subchannel and two horizontal subchannels.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Effect of viscous dissipation on steady-state pressure-driven flow in a horizontal porous channel

open access: yesProceedings of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences
This work considers a pressure-driven flow through a horizontal channel. The flow is considered under the influence of viscous dissipation effect and porosity of the channel plates.

Numerical Study of Convective Heat Transfer in a Horizontal Channel

open access: yesFluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, 2009
This study is devoted to the investigation of natural convection in a two dimensional horizontal channel with rectangular heated blocks at the bottom. The aspect ratio of the channel is A = L'/H' = 5. The blocks are heated with a constant temperature while the upper plane of the channel is cold. The governing equations are solved using a finite volumes

Assessing Altered Coating Adhesion on Plasma‐Deoxidized Surfaces Under Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the effectiveness of atmospheric pressure plasma pretreatment in modifying silicon and stainless steel surfaces to improve adhesion. Argon‐hydrogen plasma increases surface roughness and improves adhesion strength, whereas pure argon results in smoother surfaces and structural changes.

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...
