Abstract The Late Triassic–Early Jurassic fissures of the Bristol Channel area (southwest England and south Wales) are renowned for their diverse vertebrate faunas. These assemblages have yielded an array of predominantly small‐bodied forms that are crucial to our understanding of the early evolution of several major tetrapod clades.

Mechanics of caloric stimulation in a case with a plug in the horizontal semicircular canal
Horizontal eye movements were recorded by electronystagmography in a subject with a plug of granulation tissue in the unilateral horizontal semicircular canal by the room temperature air caloric stimulation. Stimuli were sequentially presented to both ears with the subject supine and prone, keeping the horizontal canal vertical.

Clinical characteristics and lateralization of the horizontal semicircular canal light cupula [PDF]
IntroductionPositional vertigo and nystagmus are the main symptoms and signs of dizziness, respectively. Despite the clinical utility of the supine roll test (SRT) and null point (NP) in diagnosing light cupula, a type of positional vertigo, there exists a notable gap in the literature concerning the comprehensive evaluation of lateralization values ...

Redescription of the Triassic cynodont Cistecynodon parvus and reassessment of its phylogeny
Abstract Cynodontia is an important subclade of Therapsida that first occurred in the late Permian. It includes extinct subclades which are the non‐mammaliaform cynodonts and Mammaliaformes, with the latter ultimately giving rise to crown mammals. The systematics of non‐mammaliaform cynodonts has been extensively studied and is relatively well‐resolved,

The Tonic Function of the Horizontal Semicircular Canals in Fishes [PDF]
ABSTRACTAn operative technique is described, which makes possible the elimination of a single horizontal semicircular canal in the pike (Esox lucius). Such an operation, carried out unilaterally, leads to a lasting tonic asymmetry of the eye muscle apparatus. Hence a tonic function of the horizontal semicircular canals must be assumed.

The petrotympanic canal (Huguier canal): Evolutionary, anatomical, and medical perspectives
Abstract The petrotympanic canal, traditionally referred to as Civinini's or Huguier's canal, represents an anatomical passage connecting the middle ear and temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Despite its early description, its structural complexity and functional significance have often been underestimated. In this study, we combined historical, anatomical,
