Chf prediction for horizontal tubes

International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1990
Summary: The mechanisms governing flow stratification in a horizontal tube have been investigated. Simplified models for the prediction of CHF in horizontal forced-convective flow were developed based on CHF in vertical flow using correction factors. The proposed models are compared with experimental data and show reasonable agreement.

Modeling of condensation in horizontal tubes

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2001
Abstract Condensation in horizontal tubes plays an important role for example in the determination of the operation mode of horizontal steam generators of VVER reactors or passive safety systems for the next generation of nuclear power plants.

Condensation in Smooth Horizontal Tubes

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1998
An experimental study of heat transfer and flow regimes during condensation of refrigerants in horizontal tubes was conducted. Measurements were made in smooth, round tubes with diameters ranging from 3.14 mm to 7.04 mm. The refrigerants tested were R-12, R-22, R-134a, and near-azeotropic blends of R-32/R-125 in 50 percent/50 percent and 60 percent/40 ...

Vaporization Inside Horizontal Tubes

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1941
Abstract This paper reports an investigation carried out to determine the changes in the coefficient of heat transfer for the evaporation of a liquid flowing inside a heated horizontal tube. For this research, a semiworks apparatus was constructed, consisting of 48 ft of standard 1-in.

Flow condensation in horizontal tubes

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2013
Abstract This study examines condensation heat transfer in horizontal channels. Two separate condensation modules are tested using FC-72 as condensing fluid and water as coolant. The first module is dedicated to obtaining detailed heat transfer measurements of the condensing flow, and the second to video capture of the condensation film’s interfacial

Rewetting of hot horizontal tubes

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1992
Abstract Experiments on the rewetting and refilling of hot horizontal tubes are presented. The experiments were carried out under a wide range of initial and boundary conditions. The effect of tube wall thickness, initial wall temperature, inlet mass flux and inlet subcooling were investigated.

Horizontal Tube Evaporators

1980
Experimental data on horizontal tube evaporator-condenser water desalination units agree well with the turbulent model, which covers the whole range of the evaporating film flow rate [1]. The knowledge of the mode of liquid flow between neighboring consecutive tubes in a horizontal bundle is important to the understanding of transport rate ...
