Characterizing top gated bilayer graphene interaction with its environment by Raman spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2011
In this work we study the behavior of the optical phonon modes in bilayer graphene devices by applying top gate voltage, using Raman scattering. We observe the splitting of the Raman G band as we tune the Fermi level of the sample, which is explained in ...

Novel 3D‐Printed Biophotonic Scaffold Displaying Luminescence under Near‐Infrared Light for Photopharmacological Activation and Biological Signaling Compound Release

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Despite significant efforts in developing novel biomaterials to regenerate tissue, only a few of them have successfully reached clinical use. It has become clear that the next generation of biomaterials must be multifunctional. Smart biomaterials can respond to environmental or external stimuli, interact in a spatial‐temporal manner, and trigger ...

Highly Tunable and Cell‐Remodelable Thiol‐ene Alginate‐Peptide Crosslinked Hydrogels to Recreate Cellular and Organoid Microenvironments for Biofabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Norbornene‐functionalized alginate is crosslinked with a di‐thiolated peptide sequence cleavable by cell‐secreted matrix metalloproteinases and decorated with cell‐adhesion peptides upon exposure to UV. Thyroid follicles, endometrial and intestinal organoids are encapsulated in a gentle manner with high cell viability and correct phenotype ...

Susceptibility of Biomphalaria tenagophila and Biomphalaria glabrata from the same region to two Brazilian strains of Schistosoma mansoni Suscetibilidade de Biomphalaria tenagophila e Biomphalaria glabrata de uma mesma região a duas cepas de Schistosoma mansoni

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 1994
B. tenagophila snails from Ouro Branco, MG, showed positivity for S. mansoni, with infection rates of 5%, 10%, (SJ strain), and 1% (LE strain) using a pool of miracidia.

[Prevention of the horizontal transmission of hepatitis B in children].

open access: yesLa Pediatria medica e chirurgica : Medical and surgical pediatrics, 1988
The active immunisation by means of vaccination is the best strategy against the B hepatitis virus. Hevac B vaccine was administered to sixty one children (30 boys and 31 girls) aged 1 month 14 years co-inhabitants with chronic carries of virus. After administering three dosages, seroconversion, giving protecting titres (greater than or equal to mU/ml)

Tunable Bioresorbable Scaffolds With Marine Sulfated Polysaccharides for Small‐Caliber Vascular Grafts: A Multi‐Layered Strategy Combining Electrospinning and 4‐Axis Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A multilayered small‐caliber vascular scaffold combining electrospinning and 4‐axis printing is developed and biofunctionalized with marine sulfated polysaccharides from Holothuria tubulosa. The resulting construct exhibits enhanced hemocompatibility, tunable mechanical properties, and supports endothelial and smooth muscle cell adhesion and ...

Unravelling the Atomic Structure of a Metal‐Covalent Organic Framework Assembled from Ruthenium Metalloligands

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Metal‐covalent organic frameworks (MCOFs) are novel porous materials that exhibit the advantages of covalent and metal‐organic frameworks. However, it is extremely difficult to resolve their atomic structure and better understand their structure‐properties relation. This work utilizes a synergistic combination of advanced microscopy, spectroscopic, and

Electrophysiological Characterization of the Antarease Metalloprotease from Tityus serrulatus Venom

open access: yesToxins, 2017
Scorpions are among the oldest venomous living organisms and the family Buthidae is the largest and most medically relevant one. Scorpion venoms include many toxic peptides, but recently, a metalloprotease from Tityus serrulatus called antarease was ...
