A 300 GHz "Always-in-Focus" Focusing System for Target Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A focusing system for a 300 GHz radar with 5 m target distance and 10 mm diameter spot size resolution is proposed. The focusing system is based on a Gaussian telescope scheme and its main parameters have been de¬signed using Gaussian beam quasi-optical ...

Non‐Equilibrium Synthesis Methods to Create Metastable and High‐Entropy Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stabilizing multiple elements within a single phase enables the creation of advanced materials with exceptional properties arising from their complex composition. However, under equilibrium conditions, the Hume–Rothery rules impose strict limitations on solid‐state miscibility, restricting combinations of elements with mismatched crystal ...

Progress in integrated-circuit horn antennas for receiver applications. Part 1: Antenna design [PDF]

open access: yes
The purpose of this work is to present a systematic method for the design of multimode quasi-integrated horn antennas. The design methodology is based on the Gaussian beam approach and the structures are optimized for achieving maximum fundamental ...

XOR‐Logic Phase Coding Programmable Metasurface for Low Power‐Consumption Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By leveraging XOR logic, the biasing‐network complexity of 2D programmable metasurfaces is reduced from m×n to m+n through efficient row‐column control. This enables versatile functions including beam deflection and beamforming, facilitating applications in wireless communications and beyond.

Horn array antenna with high aperture efficiency and suppressed grating lobes

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation
In the design of horn array antennas, usually there is a challenge with the grating lobe problem and consequently quite low aperture efficiency. A new configuration for horn array antennas is presented which introduces high aperture efficiency with ...

Broadband Achromatic Programmable Electromagnetic Camouflage via Fluidic‐Accessible Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fluidic access metasurface enables dynamic, broadband electromagnetic illusions. By physically reconstructing conductive patterns with liquid metal, the metasurface achieves real‐time, pixel‐level control over phase dispersion. This allows for the programmable generation of arbitrary strong scattering point arrays, effectively deceiving high ...

Substrate Integrated Waveguide Horn Antenna for 60 GHz Band [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The paper presents the design and fabrication of a H-plane substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) horn antenna. The antenna operates at 60 GHz band and is equipped with a SIW-to-WR15 transition. Experimental results prove that the antenna achieves the gain

Optical horn antennas for efficiently transferring photons from a quantum emitter to a single-mode optical fiber.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
We theoretically demonstrate highly efficient optical coupling between a single quantum emitter and a monomode optical fiber over remarkably broad spectral ranges by extending the concept of horn antenna to optics.

Non‐Uniform Space‐Time‐Coding Modulation for Low‐Complexity Diagnostics of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A diagnostic method for reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) based on non‐uniform space‐time‐coding modulation is presented. Fault localization is achieved via amplitude‐only spectral measurements, eliminating the need for complex signal processing. A one‐to‐one mapping between harmonic components and RIS elements enables accurate detection.
