Transforming Management Education: Insights from Social‐Ecological Systems and Social Innovation Research

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract It is clear that contemporary management education (ME) needs to be transformed to tackle complex social‐ecological crises effectively. However, the concept of transformation is often ill‐defined in the context of ME; while there is also a lack of understanding about what concrete transformation trajectories (also called scaling pathways) are ...

When Great Powers Struggle: How Geopolitical Alignments of Small States Are Influenced by Their MNEs

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract Comparing two distinct deglobalization periods, this study shows how Finnish multinational enterprises (MNEs) used corporate diplomatic activities (CDA) to influence Finland's alignment with a struggling great power. Refining generic limits in Hyacinthinae (Asparagaceae, Scilloideae): Conflict and concordance between morphology and phylogenomics

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, EarlyView.
Using Angiosperms353 and plastid genome skimming approaches, the generic limits of Hyacinthinae were explored using DNA sequences to better understand their evolution. Floral morphology, a traditional generic delimiter, conflicts with the molecular groupings in many cases, but bulb morphology and cytogenetics define similar groups to DNA.

Agnosticism about artificial consciousness

open access: yesMind &Language, EarlyView.
Could an AI have conscious experiences? Answers to this question should be based not on intuition, dogma or speculation but on solid scientific evidence. However, I argue such evidence is hard to come by and that the only justifiable stance is agnosticism.

Looking for trouble: A common threat‐detection mechanism underlying pain, fear, and anxiety

open access: yesMind &Language, EarlyView.
I put forward a novel cognitive architecture for pain, fear, and anxiety, according to which these three capacities are underpinned by a common threat‐detection mechanism. This mechanism takes information about potential threats as input, assesses whether the threat is actual and, if it deems it is, outputs a threat representation.

Rabon-Impregnated Ear Tags for Horn Fly Control on Beef Cattle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
One insecticide-impregnated ear tag per animal resulted in satisfactory horn fly reductions of over 85% for 46, 62 and 71 days. Failure to control horn flies (50 or more flies per side) occurred at about 70 days post-treatment with three study herds in ...
