Influence of Grit Size and Wood Species on the Granularity of Dust Particles during Sanding
Wood dust poses a threat to the health of employees and the risk of explosion and fire, accelerates the wear of machines, worsens the quality of processing, and requires large financial outlays for its removal.

Well‐preserved heathlands of NW Italy are the main overwintering habitat of Sympecma paedisca, while grassy margins in farmland are used only in summer and are avoided from autumn onwards. Grassy margins in farmland act as corridors during the species' migrations between its breeding (ricefields) and overwintering (lowland heathlands) grounds ...

Mycetophilidae s.l. (Diptera) of linden-oak-hornbeam woods in the Białowieża National Park [PDF]
Fungus gnats were studied in linden-oak-hornbeam woods, the most representative plant associa-tions in the Bialowieza National Park. The species composition, abundance and frequency of Mycetophilidaes. l.at three selected sites were compared. 257 species were recorded. Most of the material was collected by netting, some by light and by odour baits.

The aim of the study was analysis of quantitative and qualitative extractive components extracted from hornbeam (Carpinus betulus L.) and yakal (Shorea astylosa Foxw.) wood. Two wood species similar to each other in terms of microscopic structure and physical properties, the native wood of Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus L.) and the yakal wood (Shorea ...

We conducted the first radio‐tracking study on Osmoderma barnabita to examine the movement ecology and habitat selection in the Eastern Carpathians. A female recorded the longest movement distance and had larger home ranges than males. It showed a preference for Quercus petraea, with wood mould cavities and DBH as key predictors.

Summary The study of seasonal xylem hydraulics has predominantly focused on embolism‐induced losses, whereas growth‐driven increases in hydraulic capacity have received little attention. We assessed the intra‐annual dynamics of xylem formation and gain of conductivity in the current‐year ring of three species with contrasting tree‐ring structure ...

Investigation on the effect of wooden dowel diameter, penetration depth and species on the bending moment resistance under diagonal tensile load of corner joints in case-type furniture [PDF]
The bending moment resistance under diagonal tensile load of doweled joint in plywood members was investigated. Joint members were cut from 11-ply hardwood plywood (Beech, Hornbeam and Alder) at the nominal thickness of19 mm.

Multi-Frequency Electrical Impedance Measurement on a Wooden Disc Sample [PDF]
Non-invasive measurement techniques are widely used for the investigation of living tree and wood material. Principles and methods from other fields of science form the basis of these techniques.
