The Liverworts and Hornworts of Belize
The Bryologist, 1996A complete list of the liverworts and hornworts known from Belize, comprising 49 genera and 65 species, is presented. Twenty-two genera and 30 species are new to Belize, and Calypogeia lophocoleoides Steph. is new to Central America. Belize is a small country (22,963 square km) lo- cated on the Caribbean coast of northern Central America at ...

Spectroscopic characterization of plastocyanin from hornwort
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1986Plastocyanin isolated from an aquatic higher plant, Ceratophyllum demersum L. (hornwort), has been characterized by electronic absorption, circular dichroism (CD), and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopies. The visible absorption, CD, and EPR spectra of hornwort plastocyanin indicated a complete similarity of blue copper center to those ...

A catalogue of the hornworts and liverworts of Croatia
Herzogia, 2021The amount of information on the hornwort and liverwort flora of Croatia has increased in the last decade due to new field records and detailed literature reviews. Based on these data, an updated list of the hornwort and liverwort taxa present in Croatia has been compiled and is presented here.

Hornworts in Switzerland—endangered?
Biological Conservation, 1992Maps of the distribution of Anthoceros punctatus L. var. cavernosus auct. and Phaeoceros laevis (L.) Prosk. ssp. carolinianus (Michx.) Prosk. in Switzerland are presented. They are based on herbarium specimens and field studies and distinguish between records before and since 1960.

Hornworts: An Overlooked Window into Carbon-Concentrating Mechanisms
Trends in Plant Science, 2017Hornworts are the only land plant lineage harboring a biophysical carbon-concentrating mechanism (CCM). Here, we argue that hornworts are a promising, yet currently overlooked, model system to study the evolution and genetic basis of CCMs. The results of such studies could have translational values toward engineering a CCM in crop plants.

Symbiosis, 2020
Symbioses between plants and nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria are benchmark biological systems to understand mutualism and patterns of coevolution. The diversity of cyanobacteria associated to non-vascular land plants is still being unraveled, with a huge gap in knowledge from tropical areas, especially in hornworts.
