Calcium-related properties of horseradish peroxidase

Abstract Horseradish peroxidase has been shown to be a metalloprotein in which calcium contributes to the structural stability of the protein. Isoenzyme C and A contain 2.0 and 1.4 moles calcium/mole enzyme, respectively, which can be removed by treatment with guanidine hydrochloride and EDTA.

Horseradish Peroxidase Electrode for the Analysis of Clozapine

Abstract A horseradish peroxidase (HRP) immobilized electrode was developed for the assay of the antipsychotic compound clozapine (CLZ). The biosensor was made of HRP crosslinked with glutaraldehyde and bovine serum albumin (BSA) and blended in the electrode matrix. The latter was a carbon paste based on solid paraffin and graphite particles.

Horseradish peroxidase-mediated oxidation of phenol

Abstract The oxidation of phenol by a horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide has been investigated. The oxidation of phenol by a HRP-H2O2 system yielded o,o′- and p,p′-biphenol. p,p′-Biphenol was further oxidized to p-diphenoquinone by the HRP-H2O2 system.

[Stabilizers of horseradish peroxidase].

Keeping an enzyme in its native form with high catalytic activity is of great significance. In the present study, thermal stabilizers of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) were screened. The results indicated that thermal stability of HRP was enhanced by magnesium sulphate and gelatin. A synergic effect of magnesium sulphate and gelatin was observed.
