Seasonal Nitrous Oxide Emissions From Hydroponic Tomato and Cucumber Cultivation in a Commercial Greenhouse Company

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2021
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is considered as the most critical greenhouse gas (GHG) emitted by agricultural and horticultural food production. Hydroponic vegetable cultivation in greenhouse systems has a high potential for N2O emissions due to the intense ...

Horticulture, Horticultural Science, and 100 Years of ASHS [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 2003
subject to change. The process is cumulative and science is alive only when it grows. When any society claims to know the complete truth such that further question is heresy, science dies. Horticultural knowledge accumulation has always been in a state of tension between the mundane empiricism of the gardening arts discovered by generations of growers ...

Active Biopaste for Coral Reef Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Preserving coral reefs is essential. A conductive, hardening paste for coral attachment and mineral accretion technology is developed, using a bio‐based acrylate soybean oil matrix and graphene nanoplatelets. Corals are attached with and onto the conductive paste, electricity is applied, water electrolysis is induced, and calcium is deposited at the ...

Constructing Asymmetric Sn‐Cu‐C Interface via Defective Carbon Trapped Atomic Clusters for Efficient Neutral Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work constructs asymmetric Sn‐Cu‐C interface via anchoring SnCu atomic clusters on carbon defects. Such as‐synthesized SnCu‐DG catalyst achieves a high NH3 Faradaic efficiency (99.5%) and a record intrinsic activity of 2.61 × 10−17 mmol h−1 siteCu−1 at neutral electrolyte condition.

Strain Amplification via Helically Braided Fiber Reinforced Sleeve for Soft Material Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a braided fiber‐reinforced sleeve that amplifies strain in soft materials, enhancing their performance in stretchable devices like sensors and energy harvesters. By reinforcing and elongating encased materials, the sleeve increases the “effective” strain.
