Host‐Parasite Relationship of Ticks (Acari: Ixodidae and Argasidae) and Feral Pigs (Sus scrofa) in the Nhecolândia Region of the Pantanal Wetlands in Mato Grosso do Sul

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
Feral pigs (S. scrofa) were introduced to the Pantanal region around 200 years ago and the population appears to be in expansion. Its eradication is considered to be impossible. The population of feral pigs in the Pantanal wetlands is currently estimated at one million. Two scientific excursions were organized.

Indole‐Acetic Acid Impairs Pseudomonas aeruginosa Virulence and Alters Lung Infection in Mice

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 14, Issue 6, December 2025.
Screening for anti‐virulence activity exerted by tryptophan catabolites on laboratory and clinical strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa showed that Indoleacetic acid (IAA) inhibits motility and pigment production, downregulates PQS gene expression, while increases oxidative stress sensitivity.

A Deadly Ride: The Interaction Between the Tortoise Beetle Botanochara impressa and the Parasitoid Wasp Emersonella niveipes

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Parasitoid insects can significantly influence the dynamics of terrestrial ecosystems due to their interactions with phytophagous insects. Tortoise beetles (Cassidinae s. str., Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae) are one of the most parasitized groups of Coleoptera.

Host–parasite relationship in urban environments: A network analysis of haemoparasite infections in Nasua nasua Linnaeus (South American coati)

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 456-463, September 2025.
Urban environments alter host–parasite dynamics, as seen in Nasua nasua, where haemotropic Mycoplasma plays a key role in parasite spread through frequent social interactions. Network analysis revealed low modularity in interactions between N. nasua and tick‐borne haemoparasites, with functional roles unaffected by biotic factors, tick infestation or ...

Taenia taeniaeformis: aspectos da relação hospedeiro-parasita [PDF]

open access: yesMemórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1982

Antibiotic‐Induced Dysbiosis of the Gut Microbiota Shifts Host Tryptophan Metabolism and Increases the Susceptibility of Mice to Pulmonary Infection With Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 175, Issue 4, Page 453-466, August 2025.
Antibiotic‐induced dysbiosis of the gut microbiota shifts host tryptophan metabolism and impairs the innate immune response during Pseudomonas aeruginosa pulmonary infection. (A) Eubiosis: During eubiosis, the intestinal microbiota metabolises tryptophan into indole metabolites, which keeps tryptophan levels within normal serum concentrations. However,

Desempenho de Thyrinteina arnobia Stoll (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) em eucalipto e goiaba: o hospedeiro nativo não é um bom hospedeiro? [PDF]

open access: yesNeotropical Entomology, 2003
Plants can develop mechanisms of defense that reduces the effects of herbivore attacks. In response, the herbivores evolve to breaking the defense mechanisms of plants. Herbivores may also escape from the plant defense system by migrating to other host whose defense is not effective against them.
