Asthma Remission From Childhood to Young Adulthood–A Population‐Based Cohort Study

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Among 257 participants with asthma at age 8 years, 39% achieved symptom‐based remission by age 24, 29% achieved clinical remission, and 18% achieved complete remission. IgE‐Binding Bacterial Components Not Yet Documented in the Allergen Databases and Their Allergenic Mechanisms: An EAACI Position Paper

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Among bacteria that are associated with the development and/or exacerbation of allergic/atopic diseases, several have been described to produce IgE‐binding components. Understanding the Type 2 Immunity: An Evolving View Beyond Allergic Diseases

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Type 2 (T2) immunity is classically associated with defense against helminths and environmental threats, from a physiological perspective, and with allergies and eosinophilic inflammatory diseases, in a pathological sense. However, growing evidence reveals that T2 pathways also support other essential homeostatic functions, including tissue ...

Sugammadex vs. neostigmine and the risk of postoperative pulmonary complications after upper gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures: a propensity score matched analysis of 15,730 patients

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction Postoperative pulmonary complications after upper gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures under general anaesthesia are clinically important and may be exacerbated by residual neuromuscular block. We evaluated whether antagonism of neuromuscular block with sugammadex rather than neostigmine is associated with improved respiratory ...

Anastomotic Failure Is Not Affected by Anastomotic Technique in Minimally Invasive Two‐Stage Oesophagectomy

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The choice of anastomotic technique in minimally invasive oesophagectomy (MIO) may influence postoperative morbidity and long‐term outcomes. The primary aim of our study is to determine whether circular (CS) or linear‐stapled (LS) anastomosis is associated with anastomotic complications following MIO.

Pathophysiology of Delayed Gastric Conduit Emptying After Oesophagectomy: A Multicentre Cohort Study

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
In this multicentre study of 272 patients, early and late delayed gastric conduit emptying after oesophagectomy emerged as distinct phenotypes. Early DGCE was predicted by open surgery, whereas late DGCE was predicted by GOJ tumour location and postoperative complications.
