Targeting the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase Axis With Hybrid Nanovesicles Restores Macrophage Rhythms to Reverse Sepsis‐Induced Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis disrupts immune‐cell rhythms and weakens bacterial clearance. Biomimetic nanovesicles combining erythrocyte and inflammation‐activated macrophage membranes deliver siNR1D1 to dysfunctional macrophages, restoring the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase pathway, circadian regulation, phagolysosomal acidification, and antimicrobial defense.

Matrix Stiffness Orchestrates Mesenchymal Stem Cell Lineage Commitment Toward Osteogenesis and Adipogenesis Through the PIEZO1/SP1/STC2 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Matrix stiffness directs mesenchymal stem cell lineage commitment through PIEZO1‐dependent activation of the SP1/STC2 pathway. Stiff matrices favor osteogenesis and suppress adipogenesis, whereas the loss of PIEZO1 function impairs early bone formation. STC2 retains lineage‐regulatory activity even when PIEZO1 is inactive.

An RNA‐Binding Protein RBMS1 Promotes Endothelial Cell Autophagy to Maintain Vascular Homeostasis and Suppress Deep Vein Thrombosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RBMS1, an RNA‐binding protein, restores vascular endothelial homeostasis by enhancing ATG3‐mediated autophagy, thereby attenuating thrombus formation and suggesting a potential avenue for further therapeutic exploration in DVT. ABSTRACT Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a prevalent vascular disorder characterized by aberrant coagulation within the deep ...

GSTM4 Suppresses Prostate Cancer Progression by Targeting TRIM27‐mediated ACLY Ubiquitination and Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
GSTM4 enhances the interaction between ACLY and the E3 ubiquitin ligase TRIM27, thereby increasing K48‐linked ubiquitination at the K554 site of ACLY and promoting its degradation. Consequently, GSTM4 regulates lipid synthesis, as well as the proliferation and metastasis of PCa cells, by modulating ACLY stability.

BIRTH BEFORE ARRIVAL IN HOSPITAL

Medical Journal of Australia, 1980
In a series of 35,466 booked patients, the incidence of birth before arrival in hospital (BBA) was one in 695 (0.14%). These labours were usually precipitate (71%), and 51% of them occurred in the patient's first or second pregnancy. Most BBAs were avoidable (65%) had the patients attempted to reach hospital at the onset of labour.

Birth of a Nation's Hospital

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1966
Now THAT the University of Pennsylvania Medical School has safely celebrated its 200th birthday, it is a fitting time to look over several accounts of its historic Pennsylvania Hospital. Some while ago I obtained a copy of Francis R. Packard's charming essay "Some Account of the Pennsylvania Hospital of Philadelphia from 1751 to 1938." I found that the

Home or hospital births?

JAMA, 1980
Advocates of home birth cite psychological and medical benefits in their demand for a different approach to birthing procedures. Opponents emphasize the risks of this approach and point to improved outcomes through medical progress available only in hospitals, as well as to recent, less positive European attitudes toward home births.

Home versus hospital birth

1998
A meta-analysis of observational studies have suggested that planned home birth may be safe and with less interventions than planned hospital birth. The objective of this review was to assess the effects of planned home birth compared to hospital birth on the rates of interventions, complications and morbidity as determined in randomised trials. We ...

The birth controllers: Limitations on Out-of-Hospital Births

Journal of Nurse-Midwifery, 1982
Abstract The historical trend away from out-of-hospital births and toward hospital births reflects an effort by physicians to retain control of maternity services. Physicians have sought to discourage nonhospital births by reducing consumer demand and by restricting midwifery and physician attendance at nonhospital births.

Hospital variation in extremely preterm birth

Journal of Perinatology, 2022
Given that regionalization of extremely preterm births (EPTBs) is associated with improved infant outcomes, we assessed between-hospital variation in EPTB stratified by hospital level of neonatal care, and determined the proportion of variance explained by differences in maternal and hospital factors. We assessed 7,046,253 births in California from 1997
