Discharge Planning and Hospital Readmissions
Medical Care Research and Review, 2016This study examines the association between the quality of hospital discharge planning and all-cause 30-day readmissions and same-hospital readmissions. The sample included adults aged 18 years and older hospitalized in 16 states in 2010 or 2011 for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia, or total hip or joint arthroplasty.

Postoperative Pain After Hospital Discharge
Clinical Nursing Research, 1999Thirty postoperative adults were surveyed using face-to-face interviews in their homes after hospital discharge. Participants were asked to describe their pain communication during their inpatient hospitalization and pain-related problems after discharge.

Tardive Dyskinesia and Hospital Discharge
The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, 1980Two hundred ninety-three schizophrenic inpatients were rated for dyskinetic movements on the Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS). Two years later, discharge status on 265 of these patients was related to the AIMS ratings. Results indicated that the discharge group had significantly lower AIMS ratings than the nondischarged group.
