Characterization of biofilm formation and multi-drug resistance among Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from hospital wastewater in Dhaka, Bangladesh

open access: yesJournal of Water and Health
Hospital wastewater has been identified as a hotspot for the emergence and transmission of multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens that present a serious threat to public health.

Impact of Environmental Exposure on Infant Sleep : The Exposome Approach

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
This review explores how exposure to environmental pollutants during the first 1000 days of life may affect infant sleep. Evidence suggests potential links between chemical exposures and sleep disturbances, underscoring the need for more research on early‐life vulnerability and the impact of pollutants in air, diet, and breast milk.

Bonds on the Ballot: What Voters (Don't) Know About Debt Financing and Why It Matters

open access: yesPublic Budgeting &Finance, EarlyView.
Abstract American subnational governments commonly require voters to approve bond proposals, reflecting historical concerns about legislative shortsightedness. Yet voters need an understanding of how bond financing works to make choices consistent with preferences. Existing literature makes it unclear whether voters have such knowledge.

Chemical agents to control biofilm formation in step 1 of care—Toothpastes and mouthwashes/concepts and challenges

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Maintaining optimal oral hygiene is important for overall oral care, ensuring the well‐being of teeth and their surrounding tissues. In addition, it promotes fresh breath and a pleasing smile. A key element of oral self‐care is the daily use of toothpaste during regular brushing.

Early Prediction of Type‐Specific Influenza Incidence Using Wastewater‐Based Epidemiology

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
We demonstrated that influenza incidence can be accurately predicted using viral RNA concentrations in wastewater. We also developed a method to separately estimate the incidence of influenza A and influenza B. Wastewater‐based estimates can theoretically detect epidemic trends approximately one week earlier than conventional case reporting, suggesting

Whole Genome Characterization of Klebsiella Strains in European Hedgehogs and Human Nosocomial Settings Identified Shared Sequence Types, Antimicrobial Resistance Genes and Plasmids

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Klebsiella pneumoniae is a pathogen associated with healthcare‐acquired infections and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to beta‐lactams and carbapenems. Although wild animals are not typically exposed to antibiotics, they can harbour resistant strains. The European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) is increasingly found in urban areas,

Human‐derived cardiac‐neural microtissues reveal catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia is also a disease of the sympathetic neuron

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Schematic diagram illustrating the proposed pathway in which regulatory defects might occur in sympathetic neurons derived from hiPSC in catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT). Specifically, enhanced calcium transients appeared to derive from three sources: enhanced membrane excitability (due to loss of ...

Efficiency of the Electrocoagulation Process with Iron and Aluminum Electrodes Regarding the Removal of Cefazolin Antibiotics from the Hospital Wastewater

open access: yesتحقیقات سلامت در جامعه, 2020
Introduction and purpose: One of the problems of hospital effluents is the presence of drug residues, including antibiotics, which if not completely eliminated, will be diverted to water resources and lead to health and environmental problems. Therefore,
