First Record of Alternaria pogostemonis: A Novel Species Causing Leaf Spots in Pogostemon cablin

open access: yesPathogens, 2022
Pogostemon cablin (Lamiaceae) is a component of traditional medicines in Southern China. The identification of P. cablin pathogens is essential for the production and development of this industry. During 2019–2020, a leaf spot on P.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

A new species and depth record of bopyrid (Crustacea, Isopoda) from a squat lobster in the Kuril-Kamchatka Trench

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Taxonomy, 2020
The branchial parasitic isopod Pleurocryptella altalis sp. nov. (Bopyridae: Pseudioninae) is described from the squat lobster host Munidopsis petalorhyncha Baba, 2005.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Electrically recorded feeding behaviour of cassava mealybug on host and non‐host plants

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1994
AbstractThe feeding behaviour of cassava mealybug (Phenacoccus manihoti) was analysed by the electrical penetration graph technique (EPG, DC‐system) and by light microscopy. This study confirmed a typical phloem‐feeding behaviour with an aphid‐like predominance of extracellular pathways of stylets.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

A review of larval host plants with some biological notes of the family Gelechiidae (Lepidoptera) in Korea

open access: yesJournal of Asia-Pacific Biodiversity, 2022
A review of the larval host plants of the family Gelechiidae in Korea is provided. The data are mostly based on the results of the survey on the larval host plants for the lepidopteran species by the second author since 2008, and a part of them is from ...

Adult‐Onset Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis Presenting With Subacute Cognitive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe the case of a 41‐year‐old man diagnosed with adult‐onset subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). The patient presented with subacute progressive cognitive deficits and a neuropsychological profile indicating predominant frontoparietal dysfunction. MRI showed only mild parietal‐predominant cerebral atrophy.

Insights into circovirus host range from the genomic fossil record [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2018
AbstractA diverse range of DNA sequences derived from circoviruses (family Circoviridae) have been identified in samples obtained from humans and domestic animals, often in association with pathological conditions. In the majority of cases, however, little is known about the natural biology of the viruses from which these sequences are derived ...

Risk of Retinopathy Associated with Long‐Term Use of Hydroxychloroquine in Patients with Rheumatic Diseases: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective We aimed to estimate the prevalence and cumulative incidence of hydroxychloroquine retinopathy (HCQ‐R) and its risk factors among long‐term HCQ users with rheumatic diseases through a systematic review and meta‐analysis of observational studies that used spectral‐domain OCT (SD‐OCT) for screening. Methods A systematic search of PubMed, Scopus,
