Clinical Utility of Rituximab in Chronic Graft-Versus-Host Disease

Annals of Pharmacotherapy, 2009
Objective: To evaluate the use of rituximab in the clinical management of steroid-refractory chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). Data Sources: Literature was accessed through MEDLINE and International Pharmaceutical Abstracts (1990–September 2008), both indexed and nonindexed citations, using the terms rituximab, graft-versus-host disease ...

Utilization of Host Plant Resistance in Pest Management

International Journal of Tropical Insect Science, 1985
The advantages and disadvantages of host plant resistance in crop protection are considered. The role of plant resistance as a primary tactic in integrated pest management and its interactions with other tactics, i.e. biological, chemical and cultural are discussed.

Utilization of a new host in the screaming cowbird Molothrus rufoaxillaris, a host specialist brood parasite: host switch or host acquisition?

Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology, 2009
The screaming cowbird Molothrus rufoaxillaris has been long known as a host specialist brood parasite. However, in the past years, the utilization of two new hosts has been documented. We examined the variation in mitochondrial control region sequences from screaming cowbird chicks found in the nests of two hosts, the bay-winged cowbird (Agelaioides ...

Utility-Based Predictive Services for Adaptive Wireless Networks With Mobile Hosts

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2009
Over the past few years, there has been a growing interest for research in wireless adaptive networking and resource management to efficiently handle wireless communications between mobile hosts and base stations. Moreover, in wireless environments, the bandwidth of an ongoing multimedia flow can dynamically be adjusted, so there must be an efficient ...

Plant‐Inhabiting Ant Utilizes Chemical Cues for Host Discrimination

Biotropica, 2011
ABSTRACTThe Neotropical ant Pseudomyrmex triplarinus is involved in an obligate and complex symbiotic association with Triplaris americana trees. The ants inhabit trunk and branch domatia and respond aggressively to foreign invaders. Their degree of host specificity and basis for recognition of host trees has not been studied.

Bordetella adenylate cyclase: host toxicity and diagnostic utility.

Developments in biological standardization, 1986
Two toxins from Bordetella pertussis, pertussis toxin and Bordetella adenylate cyclase, cause profound disruptions of cAMP metabolism in mammalian cells. While the role of each toxin in the whooping cough syndrome is unknown, it is highly likely that together they confer on the organism an important proliferative advantage. Intact B.

Evolution of Host Plant Utilization in Colias Butterflies

1986
Evolutionary biologists have recently been criticized for employing the “adaptationist program” — i.e., seeking explanations as to why things are exactly as they should be in the best of all possible worlds (Gould and Lewontin 1979). Gould and Lewontin (1979) criticize the approach of dissecting organisms into traits, each of which is then analyzed for
