A history of hot dry rock geothermal energy systems
Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, 1983Abstract This is a short history, so far as it can now be assembled, of early speculations and observations concerning the existence and origin of natural heat in the earth's crust; of some of the many methods proposed to extract and use it; and of recent investigations designed to develop and demonstrate such methods. It is probably only the preface

Modeling heat extraction from hot dry rock in a multi-well system
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2009A mathematical model is developed for describing the heat energy extracted from a hot dry rock in a multi-well system. The solutions for the water temperature, accounting for a geothermal gradient in a geothermal reservoir, are given in the Laplace domain and computed by numerical inversion, the modified Crump method.

Monitoring and interpretation of seismic observations in hot dry rock geothermal energy systems
Geothermics, 1987Abstract As the value of microseismic monitoring during development of HDR reservoirs is already proven, the discussion group concentrated on assessing what further improvements might be made. They suggested improvements both to the receivers and to the methods of analysis, with particular reference to the derivation of different source mechanisms ...

Hot dry rock geothermal systems: Geochemical applications of transient field experiments
Geothermics, 1987Abstract Although geochemical investigations of Hot Dry Rock geothermal reservoirs may be useful to both their short and long term operation, most applications of geochemistry require a knowledge of the chemical processes occurring in the various parts of the reservoir during circulation.

Heat transfer by water flow in rock fractures and the application to hot dry rock geothermal systems
International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences & Geomechanics Abstracts, 1993The heat transfer coefficient is an important fundamental parameter which is essential for numerical analysis of hot dry geothermal energy extraction systems. An investigation on joint rock-water heat transfer was successfully carried out using a test set-up for hydro-thermo-mechanical experiments on rock samples from the Carnmenellis granite.
