The role of freestream turbulence scale in subsonic flow separation [PDF]

open access: yes
The ojective of this work is the clarification of the role of freestream turbulence scale in determining the location of boundary layer separation. An airfoil in subsonic wind tunnel flow is the specific case studied.

Developments in the large angle oblique jet impingement flow investigation [PDF]

open access: yes
Single-wire (hot-wire) measurements are presented of the mean velocity and turbulence quantities near the impact plate for a 45-degree impingement flow responsible for acoustic noise production.

Advances in Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers for Intelligent Robotics and Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) integrate molecular anisotropy with electrical functionality to enable programmable actuation and reconfigurable electronics. This review classifies eLCEs into robotic actuators and adaptive electronics, summarizes key actuation mechanisms, and highlights fabrication strategies that bridge materials to ...

Three dimensional laser Doppler velocimeter turbulence measurements in a pipe flow [PDF]

open access: yes
The mean and turbulent u, v, and w components of a gaseous fully developed turbulent pipe flow were measured with a laser Doppler velocimeter system. Measurements of important system parameters are presented and discussed in relation to the measurement ...

Material‐Induced Nuclear Deformation Controls Chromatin Architecture in Adipose Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tuning cell and cytoskeleton mechanics modulated nuclear shape and heterochromatin organization in ASCs. Distinct cytoskeletal architectures induced nuclear morphologies from oblate to prolate ellipsoids. Large elongated cells with a structured actin cap exhibited high nuclear strain, driving nuclear envelope deformation and heterochromatin ...

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

Explosive component acceptance tester using laser interferometer technology [PDF]

open access: yes
Acceptance testing of explosive components requires a reliable and simple to use testing method that can discern less than optimal performance. For hot-wire detonators, traditional techniques use dent blocks or photographic diagnostic methods.
