Comprehensive modeling of transport phenomena in laser hot-wire deposition process
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2018Transport phenomena in the molten pool and heat affected zone during the laser hot-wire deposition process are intrinsically complex. These phenomena involve multi-phase flows on the millimeter scale, including surface tension and capillary effects at ...

Phenomena at hot-wire electrodes
Fresenius' Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 2000An overview is given describing phenomena at heated microelectrodes where matter and heat energy are simultaneously emitted into the solution. With controlled electric heating, virtual "quiescent" periods as well as ones with constant streaming conditions are found that depend on the heating time.

A hot-wire pyrometer for measuring gas temperatures with a high sensitivity has been developed. The method can easily be extended to measurements of surface temperature. The principal elements of a hot-wire pyrometer are a fine wire inserted into the gas and a photomultiplier for measuring the radiation emitted from it.

Transient hot-wire and laser flash methods are the two commonly used techniques for measuring the thermal conductivity of nanofluids. However, a comparative study of these two techniques considering identical nanofluids has not been carried out.

Abstract This book is a comprehensive, easy-to-access reference book for students, engineers and researchers engaged in the practical use of any aspect of 'hot wire' anemometry (HWA). The book introduces the logical framework for a computer based HWA system and identifies the individual steps in the complete experimental procedure ...

A study on the static calibration of a hot wire
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1981It is shown that the method of nonlinear regression is more suitable in the determination of the parameters of the static calibration of a hot wire. The method has a distinct advantage that the exponent n is independent of flow velocity.

Hot-wire synthesis of Si nanoparticles
Thin Solid Films, 2008Abstract The viability of producing silicon nanoparticles using the HWCVD process is investigated. A system is assembled and particles are produced from silane at pressures between 0.2 and 48 mbar, with hydrogen dilutions of 0–80%, at a total flow rate of 50 sccm and with a tungsten filament maintained at 1650 °C.
