How Hot Is Dark Matter?

Science, 2012
Astronomers still don't know what the unseen "dark matter" is that provides the gravity that holds the galaxies together, but they may soon be able to narrow in on its most basic properties.

Effect of generic dark matter halo on transonic accretion onto galactic black holes

The environment surrounding a black hole or black hole binaries is generally expected to play an important role in understanding various astrophysical phenomena around them.

SINGLET NEUTRINOS AS HOT DARK MATTER

Modern Physics Letters A, 1993
A model is presented that generates mass and magnetic moment matrices for singlet neutrinos radiatively at one-loop level. It allows the singlet neutrinos to account for the hot dark matter and the anomalous ionization of interstellar hydrogen.

Hot and Heavy Dark Matter from Supercooling

2023
We point out that dark matter which is produced non-adiabatically in a phase transition (PT) with fast bubble walls receives a boost in velocity which leads to long free-streaming lengths. We find that this could be observed via the suppressed matter power spectrum for dark matter masses around $10^8 - 10^9$ GeV and energy scales of the PT around $10 ...

Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay — and Hot Dark Matter

2006
Nuclear double beta decay provides an extraordinarly broad potential to search for beyond-standard-model physics. The occurrence of the neutrinoless decay (0νββ) mode has fundamental consequences: first total lepton number is not conserved, and second, the neutrino is a Majorana particle.

MAPPING DARK MATTER IN HOT STELLAR SYSTEMS

International Journal of Modern Physics D, 1994
Recent work on the dynamics of elliptical galaxies suggests that it is possible to determine the radial distribution of mass in hot stellar systems using only line-of-sight velocities of a sample of stars, without any a priori assumptions about either the relative distribution of dark and luminous components, or the stellar velocity distribution.

Large Extra Dimensions and Hot Dark Matter

2001
A neutrino mass-mixing scheme which explains qualitatively all present evidence for neutrino mass (the solar and atmospheric neutrino deficits, LSND, and significant hot dark matter) also successfully avoids the “alpha effect”, allowing r-process nucleosynthesis in the neutrino-heated ejecta of supernovae. The properties of neutrinos required to ensure
