Modelling of hot deformation for microstructural control
International Materials Reviews, 1998Bulk metal working processes are carried out at elevated temperatures where the occurrence of simultaneous softening processes would enable the imposition of large strains in a single step or multi...

Deformation mechanisms in hot working
JOM, 19681. During deformation at a constant temperature above 0.5Tm, there is a steady-state regime where both stress and strain rate remain constant independent of strain. 2. The interdependence of stress, strain rate and temperature during steady-state hot working and secondary creep are similar. 3.

Hot Deformation Behavior of Hot-Extruded AA7175 Through Hot Torsion Tests
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2018The hot deformation behavior of hot-extruded AA7175 was investigated with flow curves and processing maps through hot torsion tests. The flow curves and the deformed microstructures revealed that dynamic recrystallization (DRX) occurred in the hot-extruded AA7175 during hot working. The failure strain was highest at medium temperature.

Hot Deformation Behavior of V–Ti Microalloy Steels
Steel Research International, 2020Hot deformation behavior of V–Ti microalloyed steel is carried out using Gleeble1500. The results show that the flow stress curve is mainly characterized by work hardening and high‐temperature deformation softening mechanisms.

Hot deformation behavior and deformation mechanism of two TiAl-Mo alloys during hot compression
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2018Abstract Two TiAl alloys with different Mo contents (Ti-44Al-4Nb-1.0Mo-0.1B-0.01Y, and Ti-44Al-4Nb-1.5Mo-0.1B-0.01Y, referred to LM and HM alloys, respectively) are prepared, and their hot deformation behaviors are characterized via hot compression tests.

Microstructure Prediction of Hot-Deformed Aluminium Alloys
Key Engineering Materials, 2008In this paper, a deformation test method to reproduce, on a laboratory scale, the microstructure evolution of aluminium alloys occurring during industrial forming processes with a limited number of tests is presented. A hot inverse extrusion setup was designed in order to generate, inside one single specimen, a wide range of strains at a given ...

Hot Deformation Characterization of Haynes-242
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2018Abstract Ni-based super alloys are metallic materials with exceptional combinations of creep and oxidation resistance at high temperatures. Wrought alloys are hot formed at high temperatures and subsequently annealed and aged. The final mechanical properties of the alloys are a combination of the grain size generated during the process and the ...
