Hot formed steel is the most successful method in the last few years to reduce weight, save cost and increase safety in the automotive industry. It is still gaining importance for automotive body parts because of its advantageous material properties. Especially its high strength of about 1500MPa makes it possible to manufacture structural parts like B ...

In the direct hot forming process, a blank is heated up in a furnace, transferred to the press and subsequently formed and quenched in the closed mold [1] (Fig. 3.1). First the sheet is uncoiled and cut according to the shape of the product, then the blank is transferred to a continuous furnace, in which it is heated and fully austenitized.

Hot forming of dolomite briquettes
Ceramics International, 1980Abstract Results of experiments to study the production of dolomite clinker having a density close to the theoretical density of pure sintered dolomite are discussed. Density values are reported for samples obtained by the following process: decarbonization of dolomite, hot briquetting at 300–700°C, firing the semi-product at 1500°C.

Comparative study on cold-formed, hot-formed and hot-finished structural hollow sections
2012A comparative study on the influence of different manufacturing process on physical, chemical and mechanical properties of cold-formed, hot-formed and cold-formed with subsequent heat treatment steel square structural hollow sections manufactured to Grade S355J2H of BS EN 10219 and BS EN 10210 was carried out.

Tube forming is used to manufacture hollow geometries, otherwise would be stamped and welded. Automotive components could be produced by simply bending and preforming of tubular blanks; or by tube hydroforming (THF). Until recently, THF was limited to aluminum alloys and steels up to 1000 MPa tensile strength.

Hot Water Epilepsy: A Benign and Unrecognized Form
Journal of Child Neurology, 2000Hot water epilepsy is a reflex epilepsy. Seizures are provoked by hot water, and result from the association of both cutaneous and heat stimuli. Described mainly in India and Japan, the condition seems to be rare in Europe, where it occurs in young children. We report five infants aged from 6 months to 2 years.

Critical issues in the simulation of hot forming operations
Production Engineering, 2010The paper deals with the correlations that can be established in the numerical simulation of manufacturing process chains among the process parameters, microstructure evolution, and properties of the final product. With the focus on process chains applied to bulk and sheet metal parts where deformation is carried out in hot working conditions, the ...

Failures Related to Hot Forming Processes
2021Abstract The primary purpose of this article is to describe general root causes of failure that are associated with wrought metals and metalworking. This includes a brief review of the discontinuities or imperfections that may be common sources of failure-inducing defects in the bulk working of wrought products. The article addresses the

Tribology of hot metal forming
Tribology International, 1998Many aspects of the tribology of hot metal forming are poorly understood. This leads to difficulties when modelling the forming operations to develop process improvements. It also handicaps the development of new tool materials, since the operating conditions with which they will have to cope are not fully described.
