Processing map for hot working of spray formed and hot isostatically pressed Al–Li alloy (UL40)
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2009Abstract The hot deformation behavior of spray formed + HIPed Al–Li (UL40) alloy was studied using processing map technique. The map has been interpreted in terms of the microstructural processes occurring in situ with deformation, based on the values of a dimensionless parameter η which is an efficiency index of energy dissipation through ...

Simulation of Thermal Distortion in Hot Press Forming with Dissimilar Material TWB
Advanced Materials Research, 2014In order to predict the shape change in hot press forming of a TWB made with HPF1470 boron steel and HSLA340 micro-alloyed steel sheets, a coupled thermo-mechanical-metallurgical finite element model was developed to simulate the process. The simulation consisted of air cooling, forming, die-quenching and, finally, by a treatment designed to relax ...

Study of TRIP-Aided Bainitic Ferritic Steels Produced by Hot Press Forming
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2014A study is reported to produce high strength ductile steels by controlled cooling following hot press forming, instead of quenching, as is practiced in the traditional press hardened steels. Heat treatments of several specially designed low carbon steels were carried out by interrupting the fast cooling from the austenization temperature at ...

Synthesis of binary glass-forming oxide glasses by hot-pressing of gels
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1980Abstract Mixed gels of SiO 2 TiO 2 , SiO 2 P 2 O 5 and SiO 2 B 2 O 3 systems were prepared by sol-gel and/or hydrolysis and polycondensation of organometallic compounds. The conversion of gel into glass was achieved by hot-pressing of the previously dehydrated gel.

Forming and Simulation of Titanium Alloy Ti-6Al-4V by Hot Isostatic Pressing
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Numerical simulation of titanium alloy powder during hot isostatic pressing (HIP) with Shima model is studied in this paper. Material parameters in this model were determined based on uniaxial compression test with different relative density specimens. A titanium alloy ring sample was designed and formed by hot isostatic pressing.
