Effect of Hot Rolling on Microstructural Evolution and Wear Behaviors of G20CrNi2MoA Bearing Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Hot rolling can improve the mechanical properties after heat treatment by improving the microstructure. The effect of hot rolling (HR) deformation on the microstructural transformation of G20CrNi2MoA bearing steel in the subsequent CQT (carburizing ...

Effect of Internal Stress of Incoming Strip on Hot Rolling Deformation Based on Finite Element and Infinite Element Coupling Method

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Limited by the deficiency of the finite element method (FEM) to deal with infinite domain problems, the traditional FEM rolling model is not suitable enough to study the effect of the complex internal stress of the incoming strip on hot rolling ...

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of the Cold-Rolled Mg-14Li-1Zn Alloy after Hot Rolling

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
The as-cast Mg-14Li-1Zn alloy was hot rolled at different temperatures with the reduction of 50%, followed by cold rolling with the reduction of 80%. The effects of the hot rolling temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the final ...

Effects of hot rolling temperature and aging on the second phase particles of Zr-Sn-Nb-Fe zirconium alloy

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2019
Various processes were used to prepare Zr-0.4Sn-1Nb-0.3Fe zirconium alloy plate samples, including hot rolling at 620,650,700℃ without aging and hot rolling at 700℃ after aging with 10 and 50 h at 480℃, respectively.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Characterization of Plastic Deformation in CuZr Metallic Glasses Subjected to the Rolling Process

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2023
Using the rolling process, it is possible to induce multiple shear bands in the microstructure of metallic glasses (MGs) and improve the overall plasticity in the subsequent mechanical loadings.
