Laser‐Induced Chemical Patterning of Graphene‐Black Phosphorus Hybrids

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 22, 9 June 2026.
Van der Waals (vdW)‐based heterostructures consisting of graphene and black phosphorus are fabricated using a dry transfer technique. These are subjected to laser light in the so‐called laser writing procedure to introduce functional, organic moieties to the superjacent graphene lattice, enabling the fabrication of sophisticated and highly functional ...

Unlocking Photodetection Mode Switching from a Simple Lateral Design

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 44, 1 June 2026.
A simple lateral 2D perovskite photodetector capable of switching among transient, continuous, and dual transient/continuous photoresponse modes is achieved by integrating photoconductive effects with capacitive coupling from the SiO2/Si substrate. Such light‐programmable photodetection mode switching enables triple‐channel information transmission and

Magnetothermal‐Triggered Response and Self‐Healing of Recyclable and Reprocessable Nanocomposites for Actuation Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 45, 5 June 2026.
Developing recyclable materials for magnetic robotics that combine rapid response and self‐healing properties is challenging. Hence, this study focuses on the integration of magnetothermal nanoparticles into a dynamic sorbitol‐based vitrimer, a recyclable composite capable of remote actuation and self‐healing by magnetic heating.

Adaptive Carbon Nanotube Patches for Versatile Electronic Textiles and Wind‐Harvesting Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 11, 5 June 2026.
An adhesion‐tunable electronic textile patch based on a carbon nanotube/paraffin composite is presented, enabling direct, adhesive‐free integration with fabrics. Pressure‐responsive bonding allows reversible or permanent attachment on demand.

Combining Artificial Intelligence and Local Ecological Knowledge to Document the Largest Ever‐Counted Cape Buffalo Mega‐Herd

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
Large aggregations of wild mammals are declining worldwide, yet opportunistic wildlife videos from non‐scientists can capture rare or ecologically significant events valuable to conservation. Using drone footage of a Cape buffalo megaherd in northern Botswana, we applied automated detection to estimate a total of about 4100 individuals, the largest ...

Denoising Diffusion Model With Pixel‐Adaptive Convolutions for Sheet Metal Forming Analysis

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Traditional tool development processes in mechanical forming, especially for pressing tools, are often limited by time‐consuming trial‐and‐error cycles, which rely heavily on expert knowledge. These cycles can create bottlenecks and increase costs.
