ROSAT PSPC observations of Cygnus-A : X-ray spectra of the cooling flow and hot spots [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We present a {\it ROSAT} Position Sensitive Proportional Counter (PSPC) observation of the powerful radio galaxy Cygnus-A. The X-ray emission in the {\it ROSAT} band is dominated by thermal emission from the hot intracluster medium of the associated ...

A case report on the physiological responses to extreme heat during Sicily's July 2023 heatwave

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
July 2023 has been confirmed as Earth's hottest month on record, and it was characterized by extraordinary heatwaves across southern Europe. Field data collected under real heatwave periods could add important evidence to understand human adaptability to

Analysis of temperature field of grain and drying medium for grain drying integrated mechanical device.

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
In order to improve the working efficiency of the drying tower and the hot blast stove in the process of grain drying, this paper proposes a method to solve the problems of air pollution and energy waste caused by excessive combustion or insufficient ...

Temperature induced alignment in hot rotating nuclei

open access: yesPhysical Review C, 1994
Employing a cranking Hamiltonian, in the static path approximation to the partition function, we have studied the behaviour of the moment of inertia of $^{64}Zn$ at a few values of temperatures as a function of the rotation frequency. At a low temperature T = 0.5 MeV and J=16 rotational alignment of $0g_{9/2}$ orbitals takes place.

The cooling of spent carbon anodes in the aluminium smelting industry : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Mathematics at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
As part of the New Zealand Aluminium Smelters (NZAS) upgrade, a hot butt cleaning system has been proposed, this would remove the bath from anodes as they are removed from the cells.

Comparative study of the antioxidant capacity in green tea by extraction at different temperatures of four brands sold in Colombia

open access: yesVitae, 2017
Background: Tea (Camellia sinensis) is the most highly consumed beverage in the world in addition to water. The most common way of preparation is steeping it in hot or cold water.(1) In Colombia, this is a recent trend and the market is growing ...

Study on thermal model for calculating transformer hot Spot temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A power transformer is a static piece of apparatus with two or more windings which, by electromagnetic induction, transforms a system of alternating voltage and current into another system of voltage and current usually of different values and at same ...

Anisotropic Thermal Conduction in Supernova Remnants: Relevance to Hot Gas Filling Factors in the Magnetized ISM

open access: yes, 2006
We explore the importance of anisotropic thermal conduction in the evolution of supernova remnants via numerical simulations. The mean temperature of the bubble of hot gas is decreased by a factor of ~3 compared to simulations without thermal conduction,

Species separation and modification of neutron diagnostics in inertial-confinement fusion

open access: yes, 2014
The different behaviours of deuterium (D) and tritium (T) in the hot spot of marginally-igniting cryogenic DT inertial-confinement fusion (ICF) targets are investigated with an ion Fokker-Planck model.
