Hotspot melting generates both hotspot volcanism and a hotspot swell?
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1995Two prominent features mark the passage of oceanic lithosphere over a hotspot. The first is the initiation of oceanic volcanism leading to a chain of islands or seamounts. The second is the generation of a ∼1‐km‐high, ∼1000‐km‐wide bathymetric swell around the volcanic island chain. Here we show that recent estimates for the volume of hotspot volcanism

The spatial regulation of meiotic recombination hotspots: Are all DSB hotspots crossover hotspots?
Experimental Cell Research, 2012A key step for the success of meiosis is programmed homologous recombination, during which crossovers, or exchange of chromosome arms, take place. Crossovers increase genetic diversity but their main function is to ensure accurate chromosome segregation.

The unprecedented proliferation of wireless networking services and products has taken the notion of hotspots a step further to accommodate "mobile hotspots". The deployment of hotspots in trains, ships, planes, buses etc. would certainly change the way we travel.

Trends in Ecology & Evolution, 1998
Hotspots of biodiversity-areas particularly rich in species, rare species, threatened species, or some combination of these attributes-are increasingly being delineated to help set priorities for conservation. Only recently have we begun to test key assumptions that determine how useful a hotspot approach can be for conservation planning.

Hotspot Detection via Attention-based Deep Layout Metric Learning
2020 IEEE/ACM International Conference On Computer Aided Design (ICCAD), 2020With the aggressive and amazing scaling of the feature size of semiconductors, hotspot detection has become a crucial and challenging problem in the generation of optimized mask design for better printability. Machine learning techniques, especially deep

Hotspot diagnosis for solar photovoltaic modules using a Naive Bayes classifier
Solar Energy, 2019Monitoring and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) modules are critical for a reliable and efficient operation. Hotspots in PV modules due to various defects and operational conditions may challenge the reliability, and in turn, the entire PV system.

Hotspot thermal management using a microchannel-pinfin hybrid heat sink
International journal of thermal sciences, 2018An energy-efficient micro heat sink is presented for the thermal management of microprocessors with heterogeneous power distributions. The performance of the proposed microchannel-pinfin hybrid heat sink was evaluated numerically and compared with that ...
