Symptomatic Vasospasm Refractory to Clazosentan after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage of Ruptured Vertebral Artery Dissecting Aneurysm: Clinical Implications from Two Contrasting Cases

open access: yesMedicina
Clazosentan prevents vasospasms after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). However, clinical data on patients with SAH with ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysms (VADAs) are limited.

Monitoring of historical structural materials with computed tomography

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Computed tomography (CT) is an excellent tool to solve certain engineering problems connected to material science (such as sulfate swelling, internal degradation due to freezing, and alkali silicate swelling) and to understand specific processes (frost peeling, acid action).

Left Atrial Appendage Opacification on Cardiac Computed Tomography in Acute Ischemic Stroke: The Clinical Implications of Slow‐Flow

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Left atrial appendage (LAA) slow‐flow may increase the risk of ischemic stroke. We studied LAA attenuation on cardiac computed tomography in patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Estimation of carcass composition and cut composition from computed tomography images of live growing pigs of different genotypes

open access: yesAnimal, 2015
The aim of the present work was (1) to study the relationship between cross-sectional computed tomography (CT) images obtained in live growing pigs of different genotypes and dissection measurements and (2) to estimate carcass composition and cut ...

A multimodal deep learning framework for predicting sunitinib response in advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
In this study, we constructed a prognostic model for ccRCC patients treated with Sunitinib through a deep learning‐based multimodal approach. Our CGPR model further confirms the feasibility of integrating multimodal and provides guidance for future tumor patients to receive precision therapy.

Prelacrimal Recess‐Pterygoid Window Approach to the Sphenoidal Lateral Recess Skull Base Defects

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The objectives of this study are: (1) to evaluate the prelacrimal recess‐pterygoid window approach (PLR‐PWA) for treating cerebrospinal fluid leaks and meningoencephaloceles (CSFLME) in the sphenoidal lateral recess (SLR). (2) To investigate the pneumatization of the SLR and its relationship with surrounding structures, including the

Automated X‐ray computed tomography‐based analysis of clast fabric in drill‐cores of glacial diamicts using deep learning models

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Clast‐fabric analysis is a widely used method for investigating depositional and deformation processes in glacial sediments. However, traditional field‐based approaches lack standardization, are time consuming and introduce sampling bias. This study aimed to develop a novel approach to automate clast‐fabric analysis using machine learning‐based image ...

Pterygoid bone malformation and its limitations on the effectiveness of brachycephalic airway corrective surgery in brachycephalic dogs

open access: yesJournal of Small Animal Practice, EarlyView.
Objectives This study aimed to examine the association between pterygoid bone medialisation and treatment outcomes after upper airway surgery in three brachycephalic breeds. Materials and Methods Dogs that underwent CT of the head followed by routine surgery for brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome were recruited in this study.

Automated segmentation of medical images for 3D printing – voxel centric processing of spatially textured voxels

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping
Traditional medical segmentation and current 3D modelling techniques produce tissue models that capture only surface topology which lacks the volumetric material properties to accurately represent the internal structure.

Simple quantitative chest CT for pulmonary edema

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Radiology Open, 2020
Purpose: To determine the accuracy of quantitative CT to diagnose pulmonary edema compared to qualitative CT and CXR and to determine a threshold Hounsfield unit (HU) measurement for pulmonary edema on CT examinations.
