Effect of Liraglutide on Intermittent Hypoxia‐Induced Metabolic Dysfunction: From Bench to Bedside

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intermittent hypoxia (IH)‐mediated adipose tissue inflammation with M1 macrophage polarisation plays a key role in the pathogenesis of metabolic diseases in obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Effective treatment strategies are so far lacking.

Mathematical modeling of foreign bodies with different density in biological and non-biological models in the experiment

open access: yesМедицина неотложных состояний
Background. Modeling allows investigating both existing and predicted processes and is widely used in basic science and in many industries. The aim is to develop a mathematical model for determining the size of the foreign bodies (FB) and their ...

Factors and Experiences Associated With Unscheduled Hospital Readmission After Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion: A Case–Controlled Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1389-1396, May 2025.
The research utilized a case–control approach to contrast patients experiencing unscheduled readmissions with those undergoing planned readmissions due to staged surgery. Findings indicated a 3.88% rate of unscheduled readmissions, mainly linked to adjacent segment disease, with 3.35% necessitating reoperation.

Predicting standardized uptake value of brown adipose tissue from CT scans using convolutional neural networks

open access: yesNature Communications
The standard method for identifying active Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) is [18F]-Fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]-FDG) PET/CT imaging, which is costly and exposes patients to radiation, making it impractical for population studies.

The S.T.O.N.E. Score: A new assessment tool to predict stone free rates in ureteroscopy from pre-operative radiological features

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology, 2014
Objective: To develop a user friendly system (S.T.O.N.E. Score) to quantify and describe stone characteristics provided by computed axial tomography scan to predict ureteroscopy outcomes and to evaluate the characteristics that are thought to affect ...

The Cervical Vertebral Bone Quality Score Is a Novel Reliable Index Reflecting the Condition of Paraspinal Muscles and Predicting Loss of Cervical Lordosis After Open‐Door Laminoplasty

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1406-1417, May 2025.
There is a close correlation between C‐VBQ scores and the cervical deep extensors, deep flexors, and overall paraspinal muscles relative cross‐sectional area (RCSA) and degree of fat infiltration (DFF). The C‐VBQ score is a comprehensive parameter reflecting the quality of cervical bone and paraspinal muscles.

Effect of varying driving pressure and respiratory rate on ventilator‐induced lung injury in healthy and injured lungs: An experimental animal study

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Top: experimental groups for the two series of rats: five combinations of driving pressure (DP) and respiratory rate (RR), maintaining a constant 4DP+RR value of 140, were applied for 4 h in healthy lungs (Series 1) and 2 h in HCl‐injured lungs (Series 2).
