Recently Evolved, Stage‐Specific Genes Are Enriched at Life‐Stage Transitions in Flies
We discovered that 20%–30% of protein‐coding genes in Drosophila melanogaster and Aedes aegypti are only expressed during specific stages of development. Surprisingly, many of these stage‐specific genes are newly evolved, unique to flies and mosquitoes, shedding light on how insect development has evolved over time.

A Study on the Grinding of the Hourglass Worm Wheel.
The high performance of the hourglass worm gearing is well known among all types of worm gearings, especially after the developement of HEDCON【○!R】 worm gear reducer. Despite its high performance, the difficulty in manufacturing the hob is one of the obstacles of production and it has been one of the themes of study.

Neurobiology of mitochondrial dynamics in sleep
Abstract figure legend In neurons, variations in sleep history are accompanied by alterations in mitochondrial dynamics, including changes in size, fission and fusion events, the emergence of extra‐large and ‘hourglass’‐shaped mitochondria, mitophagy, and modifications in intracristal space volume and in the number of contact sites between mitochondria

Super‐Resolution Microscopy in Tissue Engineering
Super‐resolution microscopy (SRM) has advanced tissue engineering by providing nanoscale insights into cellular interactions. It reveals detailed cell membrane structures, tracks vesicle and virus entry, and visualizes the cytoskeleton. SRM also improves understanding of cell migration, facilitating tissue regeneration, vascularization, immune ...

Diabetic Kidney Disease‐Associated Pathological Angiogenesis: The Role of Aquaporin‐1
Hyperglycemia upregulates AQP1 expression in renal endothelial cells, promoting abnormal angiogenesis. Structurally and functionally immature vessels lead to glomerular capillary leakage, proteinuria, and progressive renal injury. Targeting AQP1 may attenuate abnormal angiogenesis in DKD and slow disease progression.

The Vertebral Column of Flatfish: A Review
ABSTRACT Flatfish (Pleuronectiformes) encompass fascinating fish species known for their high gastronomical value, rearing performances, and market prices, which attract both economic and scientific interest. Despite these attributes, flatfish exhibit unique morphological, developmental, and biological features, as well as distinctive swimming ...

In the mind's eye : thought-pictures and ethereal presences [PDF]
"The fascination with dreams and states of inwardness in the Victorian era derived part of its character from models of mind, descending from classical philosophy and from seventeenth-century interpretations of the tradition, but these ideas are enmeshed
