THE STRUCTURE OF FOOD DEMAND IN URBAN CHINA: A DEMAND SYSTEM APPROACH [PDF]
The structure of Chinese food demand is examined using a non-homothetic translog indirect utility function. This analysis uses household level survey data for 3 urban Chinese provinces over the 1995-1997 period.

Household structure and poverty.
"This paper proposes a method for controlling for compositional factors in the measurement of poverty. The method is based on the notion of 'direct standardisation', used extensively in the field of demography.... With this class of standardised measures, it [is] possible to examine underlying differences in poverty while controlling for compositional

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

A DOUBLE-HURDLE MODEL OF FOOD DEMAND WITH ENDOGENOUS UNIT VALUES [PDF]
This study develops a unique double-hurdle model of demand for composite food commodities which endogenizes unit values. The model structure allows us to account for the inability to observe such values for non-purchasing households and simultaneously ...
