Accelerated Discovery of Topological Spin Phase Diagrams in CrSBr Magnets Via High‐Throughput Optimization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we develop a high‐throughput algorithm that accelerates the elucidation of phase diagrams of topological spin textures using limited computational resources at high numerical accuracy. Applying this framework to the van der Waals magnet CrSBr, we unveiled a hierarchy of previously unknown topological textures (domain‐wall bimerons, bimeron chains,

Deciphering the Photopolymerization‐Induced Nanostructures and Interface Formation for Submicrometer Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the UV‐curing‐induced monomer‐rich domain, oligomer‐rich domain, and entangled oligomer domain. The cured submicron films in stressed state induce interlayer nano‐wrinkle structures during the deposition of the second layer. Stress‐free cured films in relaxed state form non‐diffusive, diffusive and semi‐diffusive interlayer ...

Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

Unified Pressure and Field Response Across Distinct Charge‐Order Regimes in Ti‐Doped CsV3Sb5

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We microscopically investigate the interplay between charge order and superconductivity in a kagome superconductor across regimes of long‐ and short‐range charge order. Hydrostatic‐pressure and magnetic‐field μSR$\mu{\rm SR}$ measurements reveal remarkably similar superconducting and normal‐state time‐reversal‐symmetry‐breaking responses in both ...

Rereading “The Housing Question” in Light of the Foreclosure Crisis

open access: yesACME, 2016
This paper identifies productive and problematic strands in “The Housing Question”.  My research in New York and throughout the U.S. during the financial and housing crises of the 1970s and mid 2000s led me to reread “The Housing Question” and see its ...

Intracrystalline Void‐Mediated Toughening of Brittle Crystals in Quail Eggshells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In quail eggshells, the high density and disordered arrangement of intracrystalline voids inhibit lattice cleavage, suppress long‐range crack propagation, and promote deformation twinning and quasi‐plasticity, serving as an essential toughening motif. We show that these voids remain within a narrow subcritical size range and therefore predominantly do ...

Multidimensional‐Encoded High‐Fidelity Spectrometers With a Floating‐Base Bipolar Junction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A floating‐base bipolar junction photodetector enables multidimensional spectral encoding through synergistic gate‐ and drain‐bias modulation of interfacial barrier matching. The resulting complementary spectral responses form a diverse, weakly correlated response matrix, enabling robust and high‐fidelity spectral reconstruction even at sub‐nanoampere ...

The Politics of Housing Power, Consumers and Urban Culture

open access: yes, 2017
Exploring the politics of housing from 1890-1990, this fascinating study examines the interaction not only of national and local politics but also of local factors such as civic culture, key local players, local discourse and geographical and demographic

Ultra‐Thin Tow‐Based Discontinuous Composites—Material Overview and Aspirations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Tow‐based discontinuous composites made from ultra‐thin tapes offer outstanding in‐plane mechanical properties. This material, inspired by Nacre, has high volume fraction of tapes exceeding 90 % and allows for quasi‐isotropic material plates less than 100 micrometer in thickness.

The Urban Politics of food- housing nexus in São Paulo, Brazil [PDF]

open access: yeslo Squaderno
The relationship between housing justice movements and the practice and politics of agroecology and feminist political ecology shares many features. Recent scholarship has increasingly addressed agrifood and housing justice claims in the Global South ...
