HPC-based genome variant calling workflow (HPC-GVCW)
2023AbstractA high-performance computing genome variant calling workflow was designed to run GATK on HPC platforms. This workflow efficiently called an average of 27.3 M, 32.6 M, 168.9 M, and 16.2 M SNPs for rice, sorghum, maize, and soybean, respectively, on the most recently released high-quality reference sequences.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is rapidly becoming the de facto standard for access to all computing, whether via web, phone, or direct command-line access. HPC centers and other institutions supporting hundreds or thousands of users face challenging cost, licensing, user support, and infrastructure deployment decisions when considering a transition

High performance cluster computers are very popular due to its low price and scalability. But several new issues must be attended while programming on such systems. The most important are bandwidth of the interconnect and I/O storage speed. Problem of uniform data processing can be described in terms of queueing theory for estimations of computation ...

In the last years the field of High Performance Computing (HPC) faced a major move of their building blocks —the computing nodes— away from proprietary designs towards nodes built out of workstation boards. This movement came along with the success of companies like Silicon Graphics and IBM.

HPC Cloud Bad; HPC in the Cloud Good
2013 IEEE 27th International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing, 2013For most of the past two decades - since the rise of clustering in the mid-1990s - the HPC community has created its own IT components for deploying, managing, monitoring, and using horizontally-scaled resources to run its technical workloads. Historically, these tools have differed significantly from those used in commercial data centers, primarily ...
