Direct-reaction studies by particle-γ coincidence spectroscopy using Csi-Hpge and Si-Hpge arrays

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
Particle-γ and particle-γ-γ coincidence spectroscopy has several advantages in the study of direct reactions (particularly in inverse kinematics) since it can generally allow determination of: decay paths; high-precision level energies; multipolarities of transitions; and cross sections.

Development of a rugged HPGe detector

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1986
Abstract A rugged HPGe detector capable of taking high resolution data in a vibrational environment has been developed. The objectives included a detector with 35% gamma efficiency and 1.90 keV energy resolution (both quantities measured at 1332.5 keV), a dewar with a capacity of 1.2 l and a hold time of 24 h.

Modelling orthogonal strip HPGe detector systems

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2007
Abstract The development of orthogonal planar strip high purity germanium (HPGe) detectors offers the advantages of good energy and three dimensional spatial resolution of photon interactions. The use of such devices for Positron emission Tomography (PET) are being investigated by the SmartPET collaboration.

HPGe virtual point detector for radioactive disk sources

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2007
Validity of the model of a virtual point detector (implying existence of a point where all interactions virtually occur) was confirmed for measurements of radioactive disk sources with HPGe detectors. The existing correlation of the count rates with the distance between the virtual plain detector and the detector face makes it possible to inter- and ...

Radionuclide Measurement Using HPGe Gamma Spectrometry

2006
In this chapter we have outlined the basic methodology, equipment, and software necessary to determine activities of 137Cs and other gamma-emitting radionuclides using HPGe gamma-spectrometry methods. The analysis of radioactivity in samples at environmental levels is a complex task.

Calculation of the volume of an HPGe crystal

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2011
An important characteristic of a high-purity germanium detector for gamma spectrometry is the volume of the crystal, which relates to the detection efficiency and to the measured background level. The crystal dimensions provided by the detector manufacturer were used to calculate the crystal volume.
