Determination of dead-layer variation in HPGe detectors

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2014
The dead-layer uniformity of the top surface of two high purity germanium detectors has been studied using a novel automated scanning set-up that allows a fine-grained topography of a detector's top and lateral surfaces. Comparisons between measurements and Monte Carlo simulations allowed implementation of a dead-layer variation into the detector model,

Simulation Study for the Half-Life Measurement of 180mTa Using HPGe Detectors

Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 2019
180mTa, which is the second excited state of 180Ta at Ex = 77 keV, is naturally occurring and is the only known stable isomer. The half-life of 180mTa is considered to be an important parameter for nuclear synthesis models for heavy elements.

A very long-term HPGe-background gamma spectrum

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2005
Background gamma spectra, taken with one HPGe detector between 1987 and 2003, are summed up to represent a total collect time of 1.03x10(8) s. Standard background gamma lines belonging to the natural decay series as well as more uncommon ones are identified. A high temporal variability of the background lines related to radon decay products is found in

‘Universal’ representation of HPGe detector efficiencies

Radiation Measurements, 2016
Abstract By fitting a simple 4-parameter function to twelve sets of HPGe detector efficiency measurements, an approximate ‘universal’ expression good to ±15% is obtained for HPGe absolute full-energy-peak efficiencies as a function of photon energy between ∼125 and ∼1750 keV for a ∼4-to-1 range of crystal volumes and for coaxial and planar crystal ...
