Research about the activity measurement of 238U using the new CeBr3 detector

open access: yesHe jishu, 2021
BackgroundAt present, the determination of 238U activity in natural samples mainly relies on HPGe spectrometer, but it has application limitation and high cost.PurposeThis study aims to measure the activity of 238U by the new detector at room ...

Large-Mass Ultra-Low Noise Germanium Detectors: Performance and Applications in Neutrino and Astroparticle Physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A new type of radiation detector, a p-type modified electrode germanium diode, is presented. The prototype displays, for the first time, a combination of features (mass, energy threshold and background expectation) required for a measurement of coherent ...

Efficiency and energy resolution of gamma spectrometry system with HPGe detector depending on variable source-to-detector distances

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal Plus
The high-purity germanium (HPGe) detectors, which are one of the basic instruments in the experimental nuclear physics, are widely used in many areas such as the environmental radioactivity, neutron activation analysis and geology. This study reports the

Relativistic impulse approximation in the atomic ionization process induced by millicharged particles

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
The millicharged particle has become an attractive topic to probe physics beyond the Standard Model. In direct detection experiments, the parameter space of millicharged particles can be constrained from the atomic ionization process.

The resonance triplet at E_alpha = 4.5 MeV in the 40Ca(alpha,gamma)44Ti reaction

open access: yes, 2013
The 40Ca(alpha,gamma)44Ti reaction is believed to be the main production channel for the radioactive nuclide 44Ti in core-collapse supernovae. Radiation from decaying 44Ti has been observed so far for two supernova remnants, and a precise knowledge of ...

The SPICE Detector at ISAC

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
A new ancillary detector system for the TIGRESS HPGe array called SPectrometer for Internal Conversion Electrons (SPICE) is currently under development. SPICE consists of a segmented electron detector, photon shield and a permanent magnetic lens.

Modeling and Verification of 1/f Noise Mechanisms in FAPbBr3 Single‐Crystal X‐Ray Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstratethat surface‐trap‐induced carrier number fluctuations are the dominantmechanism in FAPbBr3 Schottky devices, a conclusion supported by thedistinct defect profiles revealed by Drive‐Level Capacitance Profiling (DLCP). Throughnoise contribution decomposition, it is found that the 1/f noise of thedetector is the key noise source affecting ...

Search for $\beta^+$EC and ECEC processes in $^{112}$Sn

open access: yes, 2009
Limits on $\beta^+$EC (here EC denotes electron capture) and ECEC processes in $^{112}$Sn have been obtained using a 380 cm$^3$ HPGe detector and an external source consisting of 53.355 g enriched tin (94.32% of $^{112}$Sn). A limit with 90% C.L. on the $

Terrestrial gamma dose rate mapping (Euganean Hills, Italy): comparison between field measurements and HPGe gamma spectrometric data

open access: yesRadiation effects and defects in solids (Print), 2020
Terrestrial gamma radiation is mostly due to radionuclides in soil and rocks, primarily the 238U, 235U and 232Th radioactive families and 40K. This radiation contributes 15% to public exposure from all ionizing radiation sources, considering global ...

Radium Speciation in Simulated Digestive Biofluids: Insights from Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry and Thermodynamic Modeling

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, EarlyView.
Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) combined with thermodynamic modeling provides the first direct characterization of radium speciation in synthetic gastrointestinal biofluids. Free Ra2+ ions predominate with minimal protein binding and negligible EDTA complexation. Crown ethers enable effective Ra complexation.
